Pretty cool ideas from Nike http://www.wired.com/2014/09/nike-h...-for-traveling-sports-teams/#slide-id-1520081
I know the days of a dedicated team plane are gone for us, even though we charter a plane. However, I think given our geographic location, travel issues are more important for us than for any other team. We travel more miles than any other team, and are at least an hour and 30 minutes from the closest NBA team--Sacramento--which isn't even in our division. I think this kind of design could be the next competitive advantage, both in terms of keeping your players fresh and in recruiting free agents. I bet Cuban is the first owner to jump on something like this design.
Max you are right. The Blazers travel over twice as far as Cleveland. It's crazy! Sent from my baller ass iPhone 5S...... FAMS!
the mockup is obvs for the Blazers, I see 2 and 88 in the sides of the seats. I hope Uncle Paul springs for it!
I'd be interested to see if PA would go for this. But you are 100% right! I think Cuban would be all over this. I'm not sure I understand the need for the urinals to sense dehydration, but I guess that could be more important than I'm considering. Also the whole sensors on clothing to constantly monitor the athletes is interesting.
How big, if any, of an impact would being the only, or one of the few teams to own a plane like this make on attracting FAs? Should I be ready to add this airplane to my list of reasons Hibbert is coming to pdx? Edit: Repped. There's also 1, 5, 12, 25.... Wright, barton, la, blake Now we wait to see if this landed in the FO or if they are not at all interested!
In my day, the owner bought a wide-body like a C-5, replaced all that rich man's junk with a basketball court, and the team played intrasquad practice scrimmages over St. Louis.
