No chance you resign him. We know who the closer should be next season and the money not used on Robertson is needed elsewhere.

I agree on who should be the next closer.

    Robertson - 7th-8th inning guy
Betances - has better stuff, should be the closer.

Did you see Buster Olney interviewing Kelly Johnson after his game winning hit?

Wouldn't you have loved to hear Olney ask him:
"Kelly, why did you suck with the Yankees"?
.......and then he puts the mic closer to Johnson's face waiting for the answer.

    Priceless!

Robertson did his best Warren imitation this evening, I got so pissed I almost threw something through my big screen.

I wouldn't let Warren get close to an important game in the later innings.

He gagged last year in a "big" game causing another crushing defeat which left an emotional hangover...I think he muffed an easy comebacker to the mound in extra innings for a game winner.(loser)

He just seems to be the type of guy who chokes more often in crucial spots.

He'll look fine in the 6th-7th innings...don't be fooled......that's where he belongs.

...if they can resign D-Rob, they should.

I had concerns on his closer role but then again no one knew that Dellin would do as well as he has. Last year at end of season he was not doing well. If the Yankees resign Robertson give him his old job and make Dellin the closer.

I'd hand on to D=Rob myself. Tho' I'd use him as a set up man, for innings 7 and 8, while utilizing Betances as the Yanx Closer.... Rob has saved 36 out of 40 games, not bad for a young kid....! Over the course of a year. That's better numbers than a lot of Closers.

Seems to me, D-Rob seems to not be using a cut fastball, like he once was, and doesn't have the velocity necessary for a Door Slammer. 92, 93, an occasional 94mph fastball, won't cut it as a closer.

Hell, I'm seeing kids in Lancaster A+ Minors throwing 98 mph, with consistency. Now that's a gun/cannon necessary necessary for the Big Leagues.....

...that's my thinking as well. I mean even if they give the job to Betances they'll still need a set up man and D-Rob did quite well in that role. If the Yanx can resign him at a manageable contract figure, I say do it.

Matts, I see it the same way and I'm assuming that with this year's numbers, he probably won't bring as much on the open market as he might have. And if Betances is the closer next year we all know how quickly the injury bug can't bite. And if Betances should go down with an injury, D-Rob could move back into the closer's role until Betances returns.

Why does he sign for a demotion when he'll get closer offers?

...like I pointed out, maybe because "with this year's numbers, he probably won't bring as much on the open market as he might have."...and that "If the Yanx can resign him at a manageable contract figure, I say do it"

...just spitballing...I figure 50/50 on the chances he stays.

    Amen......

the injury bug has been worse this year in MLB, than Ebola overseas......

I can't see any team offering D-Rob more money as a closer, than a set up man, or middle reliever. Either way, D-Rob can do all 3, thus I see no difference in offers. He will be back next year in Pinstripes, I don't doubt it, he should be. The kid is still quit young, and not bad at all, considering all factors.

I have no doubt, D-Rob will or IMO should be a Reliever for a long time. So he blew last nights game, not bad for his 4th out of 40 Save attempts.

Seems to me like Papsmear blew 6 saves by the all star break, when he was with the Bosox....

Oddly enough, I cannot find any BB site, that shows Blown Saves, alongside Saves, or attempts at saves. One site, mentioned the Blown Save (BLSV) is not an official record? Since when?

PS: I was looking for blown save stats, simply to see how bad Papsmear has been in his career compared to others....

Makes me think of the old BSPN boards, when we had a character with the SN of Papelbon is a something or other, Pro or something like that troll shit...!
