As some of you know from a thread I posted several months ago (thanks for the help/advice!), my computer hard drive crashed. Not much of my iTunes library was recovered, so I have a lot of music on my iPhone that I hope to transfer to my computer/iTunes. Have any of you done this? Any programs you recommend? It's lame that I can easily access the picture files on my phone and move them to my computer, but have zero access to music folders/files. I found these: http://download.cnet.com/CopyTrans-Manager/3000-18546_4-10842241.html http://download.cnet.com/PhoneTrans/3000-18553_4-75736709.html
There is a process to get the music over, but you lose the tags on them. I don't remember how I did it anymore though.
Use Winamp. It's very painless http://m.en.softonic.com/how-to/how-to-transfer-songs-from-iphone-to-the-computer The driver link is here for your computer http://m.en.softonic.com/app/winamp
If you connect your phone to your computer via USB cable, you should see it in the iTunes app under devices. Something like "BoBoBrewski's iPhone" You can expand the view of the phone and see all your music. I don't see why you can't drag all the music files from there to a folder on your Mac. You may be able to just drag from there and drop in the left column under Library -> Music to import to iTunes.
Thanks Mags, I'll check that out. Denny - pretty sure that doesnt work because if it did so many people wouldnt have this same issue. Found this when reading the reviews in the link that Mags posted. I might give it a try: http://softorino.com/istick/
Apple makes it really hard to find the files because they don't want you lying repeatedly and sharing from multiple devices onto a computer.
If you're logged into your itunes account on your phone, they should be on your itunes on your computer already. Its all cloud sync'd nowadays, at least your itunes purchases are.
Correct. But the songs I want to transfer are songs that I put on iTunes/iPhone many years ago via CD's.
iTunes match $25/year. It will upload your songs, even the CD ripped ones, and it will then make available the best rips they have of those same songs. You can share the same library among multiple devices/computers and you can choose to just stream the music over the internet or cellular data or to download just some of the music you listen to frequently.
I signed up for iTunes Match last night and it didnt add all the songs on my iPhone to my iTunes library.
It did not? iExplorer. I downloaded it and was trivially able to copy songs off my iPhone to the desktop:
Did it copy some of your music? Some of the older imports may have had some Digital Rights Management, apple was a little over zealous with it a few years ago. may have only been purchased crap though.
