What do you think it will take for many countries to join the 21st century?

There are many countries that still allow public executions, stoning, "honor killings", and in some (most, maybe) don't allow women to enter sporting events that men are at, or women to go out in public not escorted by a male family member, have arranged marriages, a very VERY male dominated culture, includes many who sell their children and lots of other horrific things.

There seems to be a consistent pattern in the countries where his takes place, and that is nutbar religious beliefs.

For example, stoning is legal, or practiced in each of these countries.

UAE, Iraq, Qatar, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Northern Nigeria, Aceh in Indonesia, Brunei, and Pakistan.

Usually these weird practices are driven by religious beliefs. And outside of 1 of these countries mentioned (Nigeria), there is one religion that is an overwhelming majority.

So I guess my bigger question, when will the Islamic faith join the 21st century?

(before anyone says it, the Christian religion is barely itself in the 21st century..but at least, it was within 100 years of the 21st century, instead of the 16th century.)

Shit, if those countries were at least to the 16th century, they'd at least be experiencing the renaissance. They're still in the middle ages, which is ironic, because the Arab world was the center of learning in those days.

They end to be invaded and westernized to stop their middle aged beliefs.

Some of these countries are our allies. We would never be allies with countries still in the 16th century.

This is easy, Education. Education is the great equalizer and in most of these countries there is little to none. The people in power benefit greatly from keeping people stupid. The internet and mass communication is also part of the answer and was a huge catalyst for the Arab spring. Its hard to lie to people when they can just look up the answers online, social media also makes it easier to mobilize and group people with like minds.

This reminds me of learning about the Catholic Church during the Middle Ages. Only those that could read were able to translate the bible. And during that time, only the wealthy knew how to read. That gave a tremendous power to those with education. They could manipulate "God's message" to suite their agenda.

I think I will 100% agree that education is a main opponent to peace.

Although sometimes the education can turn things for evil purposes as well. But if everyone is properly educated, then it could be quite possible that the evil stemmed from education could be controlled.

I agree with you 100% on this. The catholic church set us back centuries on progress during the middle ages and that time period is a great comparison to the Islamic world of today. Education can also be used for indoctrination at younger ages, and is even being used to further peoples agendas in our own country, but at higher levels its more of a mind opening experience and promotes rational thinking and tolerance of others views ..... or at least better understanding of others views.

edit to add, in most of the countries listed there is high levels of illiteracy, if you cant even read then you can only believe what people tell you.

That's impressive. I have trouble remembering stuff I learned just a couple of decades ago.

Education vs. peace, 15 rounds, winner take all.

    Evil stems from education? Whut?

I think you're correct here. The key is education. Educating women, educating children, educating men.

The more they know of what is being done to them, what can be done and how things are now (i.e., women being in schools doesn't end civilization, etc).

We get it, we get it. You're Jewish and think you protect Israel by getting the U.S. to hate Muslims.

When some say "education" is needed, they mean of adults, not children. A better description than "education" is "the media telling the truth instead of propaganda."

For example, some U.S. states (the ones under the guidance of Dr. Doerhoff) routinely torture prisoners to death by injecting the scrotum with a needle. Doerhoff has been top torturer in the U.S. legal system for at least 20 years. When the retarded male nurse (the only one who will take the job) misses the blood vessel, the prisoner dies from a heart attack after a couple of hours of writhing in pain. U.S. torturers in Iraq and Afghanistan couldn't do the job any more cruelly.

Then the U.S. media covers up by calling it a "botched execution." This is an example of a medieval country that needs "education," that is, a truthful media.

    Pay per view

I said "sometimes". Reference the Catholic Church during the Middle Ages. Or countries with more "technology = education" invading those with less technology.

It's gonna take a bar of soap, patron, broken razor, 40 perfectly shaped ice cubes, some toilet paper and dental floss
