When Rose sits, we can give it to Nazr over and over for easy baskets.

    Score!

Didn't someone post that the Bulls were going to take their time to maybe find a good player?

I think we both hope we only see these guys in the last minute of blowouts. You know, a 25 point lead and the starters tired after playing 45 minutes.

Can't say I remember that, but it sure wouldn't have been me. I'm the one who (wrongly) predicted that they wouldn't sign anyone to any guaranteed money.

Why didn't he become an assistant coach? He's terrible now.

    Welcome back, BIBBY.

I agree. I thought he was going to sign somewhere else if not become a coach. He worked out with the Heat 3 weeks ago.

Yeah, we all joke about Nazr, but you can't expect a lot from vet minimum bigs and Mohammed had the second-best rebounding rate on the team last season (behind Noah).

I view this move as another (small) indication that Thibodeau may be just as difficult to work with as you could expect. There are 12th men candidates out there--in Europe, the NBA and straight out of college--who could shake trees in the NBA and just need a shot. Nazr is terrible at this point of his career. But if Thibodeau is going to play Nazr and won't play an unestablished player then I guess you go with Nazr.

Nazr won't play much unless we have multiple big men with injuries. A practice player at best.

So, no Allen? I didn't expect him to consider us.

I dunno, I was listening to a grantland podcast with Zach Lowe and Fran Franschilla and they spent the second portion talking about the incentives facing younger fringe NBA players.

Most of them have the choice of playing for NBA teams on 1 year contracts for the vet min or being marquee players in Europe and getting paid more money, while living in nice cities like Barcelona and Prague. As a result it's getting harder and harder to get those fringe guys to come over and lots of teams are forced to stock the end of their bench with guys that are way over the hill.

This signing might be a case in point.

It sounds like some think that the Bulls should apologize for re-signing Mohammed. No need as I see it. Mohammed isn't a charity case. The hell with his PER, Thibodeau needs his bigs to do a few things and Mohammed does them at least to a minimum level. The league doesn't award style points and this is a good thing for Mohammed 'cause he wouldn't get any if they did. I don't want to see Mohammed play any more than anyone else, but in an emergency, I'd rather see Mohammed than Bairstow or some other big who can only play in the NBA in theory.

Any minutes he plays should be given to Bairstow.

The roster space could have been used on another backup G.

God, it would be great if Bairstow showed enough in practice to make this happen.

It would be nice if Nazr showed enough in practice, too.

Bairstow either showed enough to be (partially) guaranteed, or ... Profit.
