If you’re grabbing a bag of M&M’s, look carefully at the label before popping the chocolate candies into your mouth.

A mix-up has prompted a nationwide recall of M&M’s due to undeclared peanut butter that could cause serious or life-threatening reactions to consumers allergic to peanuts, the company said.

Mars Chocolate North America announced the recall late last week.

Theatre boxes of the candies are marked as milk chocolate, but the bags inside those boxes contain peanut butter M&M’s. The inside bags are correctly labeled with ingredients and allergy information, the company said.

No allergic reactions have been reported to date, but Mars Chocolate was alerted to the mix-up by a customer who noticed the candy inside the boxes — typically put out in convenience and grocery stores for consumers to pick individual bags from — did not match the label on the outside of the boxes.

Allergic reactions. Im sure eating junk food in general is nearly as dangerous.
