Keith Olbermann: Derek Jeter Is Not The Greatest Player Ever https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__UJ9VZB508
It is sad that this is even a debate. Jeter is/was great. No where near as great as some other players (and former Yankees) though.
Who was trying to make the case that he is the greatest? He isn't even the greatest Yankees player, but he is a class act amongst several players from the steroids era. He is revered among many for that reason in addition to his playing ability.
Found two different articles suggesting it so far. Here is one. http://mlb.com/news/article/6770050...eter-deserving-of-place-among-yankees-legends Absolutely agree with Jeter the person being held in high regard. I think those suggesting he could be greatest are factoring that into play more then the on field stuff though. Very, very good player. Great even. Not close to greatest.
Jeter=overrated, fueled by the NY/East Coast hype machine. Very good, impressive longevity, but overrated.
class act? didn't he have a gift basket for the all the women he boned, that he'd give them once he told them to leave? classy guy there.
I wonder if Jeter didn't exist, would the MLB be where it's at even now? It's a dying product... Names like Jeter give it relevance imo. Miguel Cabrera was the first triple crown winner since 1967, my guess is average sports fan doesn't know that and that is a HUGE feat.
Jesus is the greatest baseball player ever. If I remember correctly he was a pitcher for the Angels. Am I using the OT section properly?
