Two more years at big money. If he can't physically perform they collect insurance. If he csn play he's better than the crap they ran out there this year.

I doubt if he can play, he missed much of '13 and all of '14. I'd like to see the Yankees get rid of him and the media circus it will bring.

...name the players that have pulled that magic trick off...I'll wait.

...again, NO WAY you ever played the game professionally as you claim.

i can think of 1 very good 1, and that should suffice, POPEYE back in '56, the man never even had any experience, and from episode 23 in '51 to episode 96 in '56 not 1 showed him playing the game. but did he ever!!!!

and could he pitch, the ball danced, stopped b4 the catcher could blink his eyes, and had a record 20 no hitters in that same miraculous '56 season

...^^^how typical, you have no valid answer to a very simple question, so instead, you babble nonsensically.

Hey 59...actually Cooperstown is full of guys that missed 1-3 years due to WWII. Some still played baseball to entertain troops, but that certainly wasn't Ted William's MOS.

Disclaimer...in no way am I offering any comparison of these American heroes, both of the diamond and fields of battle, to the selfish drug cheat.

..understood, but none of them were away from the game for 5 years...and very few even saw actual combat...in fact, many of them continued to play organized ball for the military as exhibitions and so most stayed in Baseball shape.

...and I don't recall any of those guys being as old as ARod when they returned.

Age wise, no. Christy Matthewson and Try Cobb served after retirement, about ARod age. But we can't really say an athlete at 40 in 2014 is the same as a guy that was 40 in 1944.

Using Ted Williams as a comp, he missed 3 seasons (24-26yr old), and the most of his 33-34yr old campaign due to Korea.

Anyway my point is there are guys who did miss as much time as ARod has and comeback to resume their HOF careers. Granted they left in their teens and twenty's, not late 30s.

More modern comps will include Mark Miller and Barry Zito attempting comebacks in 2015. If we look at that group of older stars trying to make comebacks...you're right I can't think of one that did anything notable.

...btw, Ted Williams may very well have been what he always wanted to be, which was "the greatest hitter that ever lived...I was just looking at his stats, and though some of them were staggering, the one that I was totally unaware of was that in his whole career he NEVER had a 200 hit season. (194 was as close as he ever came)

Check this out. With all due respect to TW, I'm more impressed with our own Jerry Coleman who flew combat missions in both WWII and Korea...TW only saw combat in Korea.

...yup, and the other thing is, I don't think any of those guys who served their country was a broken down shell of their former self to the degree ARod is/was before they were taken away from the game for so long.

...between his questionable health and questionable ability to still play and the fact that he sued everyone except Jeffrey Maier, I don't see how they can afford to allow his disruptive presence back into the clubhouse...I'm hoping they'll convince him of having the option of either accepting a trade or collecting his paycheck from home.

Right now Cashman is making the right public statements. No one can conclude that the team is violating the MLBPA CBA.
