Took over a loaded club in 1998 and somehow took the credit for building a team that won three in a row. A majority of his tensure has been enormous amounts of money spent that amounted to one title in fourteen years. Lets not even get started on player development and the minor league system.

I know it's hard for you to grasp the GM building the team concept.

^^^Beane has also obviously got some very well versed mid management people monitoring the minors and the scouting department for him.

...St. Louis is good at this too, especially with pitching...TB and a handful of other also seem to have a handle on things.

so the GM of the A's gets the credit for all the great young arms the scouts signed to minor league contracts?

Yes in any business, mgmt gets the credit for the successful activities done by their subordinates. How have you gone through life not understanding this concept?

    Nice point Tom......

A Manager can only be as good as the Personnel he/she hires, and surrounds themselves (Mgr's) with.....

on the other hand, can those same Personnel be only as good as the Mgr they work or play under.....

    Yin meet Yang....!!!

BTW-Tom, hope your enjoying all those Patsies Fans in Bean Town.....I tell ya' the one sports Team I despise more than the Red Sox are indeed those Patsies.....one of many reasons, is if I hear another fool try to say Brady is even as good a QB as Joe Cool Montana, then I will effing tear the last of my hair out.....LOL....ah oh, I may of set my self up.....

Is Belichek even in the same mention of Bill Walsh, ....?

Belicheck could not carry Walsh's dirty Hanes.....IMO....and those of anyone outside of Bean Town, or the state of Mass.....

...this thread is about Cashman and GMs and their duties, plain and simple. No one decided to bring Girardi up until you did...shocker!

...You can have an opinion but 75% of "us" clearly said you're wrong...funny how you are 1 of "3"...but you somehow claim that us "9" "don't get the concept" and that it is "us" who has some kind of learning problem...classic denial.

...You try to change the subject by predictably bringing up Girardi but I'm the one who's "grasping"?

...can you dispute anything I said?...of course not. Hence, like I said, "classic denial".
