This card could use a better co-main but Lamas/Bermudez and Sanchez/Lauzon are both great lead-ins.

Agree. The Lauzon/Sanchez fight should be beastly as all hell.

Excited to see how Cain looks after another extended layoff. Too bad its opening day of deer season and I'll be in Northern Michigan in the middle of bumfuck nowhere.

eh, more and more the UFC is following boxing's model of selling the superfight and just filling in the card. If they don't have a big name or title fight then they round out the card more.

Joe Lauzon also injured and pulled.

Not to worry--Diego Sanchez has also withdrawn.

Starting to look like another cursed event. Velasquez, Lauzon, Sanchez, Perez, Brimage, and Parke have all withdrawn.

What went from a highly anticipated event, is now not even watchable to me. I will avoid spoiler and download the event after and watch the main fight.

Re: UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt (Nov/15)

yeah there is exactly one fight I want to see on this card... which is rather unusual for me. I can usually find 1-2 other fighters I want to see fight even if their opponent is not a big draw. So far there is none of that here.
I will assume the women's match will be good because 90% of the time that's true.

Card lineup finalized. Two low-level fights postponed for a future event [bantamweights Masio Fullen (9-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Alexander Torres (1-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and flyweights Fredy Serrano(1-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Bentley Syler (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC)].

Re: UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt (Nov/15)

Lamas/Berumdez is going to be interesting. Bermudez has been working his way to the top and Lamas is the right kind of fighter to serve as a gatekeeper for him.

Re: UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt (Nov/15)

Yeah, I was really happy when the UFC booked the fight between Bermudez/Lamas. Bermudez needs some big, respected name on his resume (sorry Guida...) It was probably the best fight to make for the two as this is a good way for Lamas to start his campaign for another title fight (even though I suspect he loses), as well as for Bermudez to start his push for the title.

    Predictions:
Fabricio Werdum vs. Mark Hunt (Werdum, 3rd round submission)
Jake Ellenberger vs. Kelvin Gastelum (Gastelum, UD)
Ricardo Lamas vs. Dennis Bermudez (Bermudez, 2nd round KO)
Augusto Montano vs Chris Heatherly (Montano, UD)
Edgar Garcia vs. Hector Urbina (Garcia, SD)
Jessica Eye vs. Leslie Smith (Eye, 1st round KO)

    S2 let's see some picks!

Re: UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt (Nov/15)

Hoping for a good title fight. Can't root for or against either fighter--like them both! Expecting to see Werdum stick and move and avoid Hunto's power, eventually earning a submission in the later rounds.

    Ellenberger by UD?

Bermudez/Lamas FOTN but I have no idea which way it's going. Bermudez has all the momentum so maybe him by TKO?

Montano/Heatherly, Garcia/Urbina--don't know enough about them. Heatherly & Urbina by decision.

Eye vs. Smith-- Eye by UD.

Goldy: You don't get the nickname stump if you're not tough.
Joe: Well, you kinda do, if you just look like that.

Heatherly argues the stoppage but that was at least a dozen unanswered, undefended knees from Dodger.

Re: UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt (Nov/15)

Good call from McCarthy, he easily could have stopped that fight four or five strikes earlier. I mean, he was just hiding his head and looked scared as shit trying to avoid the knees.
Can't wait to see if Hunt can pull off a quick KO and win the interim belt!!!
Also, Bellator is doing a lot of filler, I think he are purposely trying to go head to head with their co mains and mains with the UFC. Thought at first Lamas/Bermudez would go head to head with Chandler/Brooks II but looks like co-mains and mains will go head to head.

Re: UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt (Nov/15)

Dennis Bermudez isn't quite at Tito Ortiz level of marblemouth, but... close. He struggles to put sentences together cleanly. Holy fuck he is an exciting fighter, though. Saying, in his own way, all the right things in the build up to this fight.

Re: UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt (Nov/15)

Good pre-fight video, I like how Rogan pointed out everyone's talking shit now with McGregor. I think it fits Bermudez, he seems like a natural trash talker. Like the analogy with Ortiz, good trash talker but awkward as fuck at times when trying to talk.
Still going with Bermudez 2nd round KO. You Speeds? Last minute prediction?

It's a close fight. I think Lamas has an edge in skill but Bermudez is a wild card. Still going with Lamas.

Ricardo Lamas lands a straight left jab that drops Bermudez and jumps on a leg-over-arm guillotine for the submission. Great win!
