Another potential destination for @MNTimberwolves Chase Budinger, I have heard, would be @trailblazers. Thomas Robinson, possibly.

Budinger has a $5 mil player option that the wolves don't want to pay.

I don't know if he's healthy at all, I'm pretty sure he's been out for 2 years.

Leonard and Barton for a healthy Budinger would be the type of trade the homer in me would endorse but never get.

It all depends on his health - he's a legit shooter who's only 26.

Robinson makes no sense for MN though.

    *Bennett
    *Young
    *Robinson

None of these guys can play anything other than PF.

I think whomever tweeted that was just throwing out names.

But then again this coincides with what (I forget the hosts names) said on a podcast a few weeks ago -- Neil values Leonard's potential over Robinson and that T-Rob's option was a bit too big to re-up for a backup.

Dorrell Wright and Crabbe make more sense.

From a chemistry POV, I just don't see this to be true.

So we trade Kostas P. (and change, including pick(s)?) for T-Rob and then we turn around and trade him for an older, more injury-prone, less useful version? Do we get all our picks back as well?

Seems unlikely. We need a PF and we don't need a SG. Offer Dieng and we'll talk.

Who's your backups? Dong the trade your way we have...
    Blake CJ Budinger Robinson Kaman
with UNHAPPY Barton and Biebs who think they should be playing but really shouldn't be.

With my way, we have the same backups, but without the unhappy players.

Plus I get the impression that Dorrell is tight with Damian, and Damian has already complained that everybody he likes gets traded.

No, sorry. It was Sean deveney. Am on mobile and tapatalk just kind of sucks IMO. Meant to add that to my original post and got sidetracked.

I don't really care for the deal. Budinger is a health risk. And seems to duplicate Wright. I also like Robinson and his potential, and the chemistry.

I would not mind a trade for Budinger. But I don't think I would want to give up anyone but Crabbe, Claver, or Leonard for him.

As for the chemistry issue, I don't think he would have a major impact, as he probably wouldn't play much, unless he proves to be clearly better at the backup 3 than other options, in which case our other potentially "unhappy backups" need to be humble enough to realize that better players play.

If we're trying to be championship contenders, improving depth by picking up better players who can fill roles is the right thing to do.

That's fine, but hopefully people on this board won't freak out when Barton walks.

Trading away Trob in favor of keeping Leonar? That would be horrible.

My thoughts exactly. No way do I give up Robinson for Budinger. I'm not against acquiring him, as I think back-up SF is the last hole we need to fill - but not at the expense of Robinson.

If Barton is better than CJ and/or Budinger, then he'll play, and likely stay. If he's not, then his departure would not be anything to freak out over.

The obvious candidate for a trade would be Claver, but he earns far less than Budinger. Claver plus Freeland or Wright would work, but wouldn't make sense from our end. (I wouldn't really mind Claver plus Wright, but I'm not sure it helps anyone.)

But the #1 reason I don't see this happening is because Olshey is clearing cap room for this Summer and Budinger's contract runs 2 years.
