MADBUM gets out of a 2nd and 3rd, no out situation with a couple Ks, giants up 3-0 after 3!

    Game 1- first 3 innings.

    Shields is once again shakey.
Here's the big one - I'm opening myself up for a scolding BUT....
Bumgarner doesn't impress me all that much...I mean...He KNOWS how pitch, he certainly is a GOOD pitcher..but his stuff just doesn't impress me. Not exactly "electric". 93 fastball--okay slider/slurve. ugh
I know he's pitched alot of innings...he'll probably still pitch well enough to give the Giants a chance to win, especially if Royals' batters keep chasing fastballs up around their EYES. lol

MADBUM is deceptively good most days. he has his moments when he is basically untouchable as well though. he isnt on kershaws level by any means but he is a bonifide #1 starter and is capable of throwing a shutout any time out

    KC I will take.

I expected, and said as much, "I will give Bumgarner 2 Wins", and KC in 6...!

Yeah only 3 hits over 7 innings, not very impressive.

A very easy & convincing 7-1 Giant win in KC. One down 3 to go for there 3rd WS in the last 5 years. GO GIANTS!.

    lmao...I know I know....

I said he doesn't have "electric stuff"....kinda like a young Andy Pettitte, 93 mph fastball and a good slurve/curve/cutter.....93 mph fastball and a good slurve/curve/cutter!

Don't get me wrong,I'll take it ANY DAY on my team especially from the left side....but....I just don't see how THAT (his) stuff is translating into being so difficult to hit along with this post season scoreless streak. Nothing eye-popping about his "stuff". I don't get it. lol

He's like the Giant team during the regular season....nothing looks very impressive, nothing jumps out at you...until OCTOBER.

Hey, no big deal..the Giants, Giants' fans and Bumgarner can all have a big laugh at my expense.
    Lets all laugh....ha ha ha

And he is indeed a good pitcher. I am not totally blind. lol

...yeah, he also kinda reminds me of Cliff Lee too. None of his "stuff" really jumps out at you as being overpowering. He's just able to somehow make the pitches he needs to make at the most critical times.

Yeah, Cliff Lee - good example.

I think it comes down to location, changing speeds, and command.
I always remember something Tom Seaver would often say-
It's more important to be able to change speeds and locate than to throw hard.

Of course when you ARE able to throw "hard", change speeds and locate, you're something really special. lol

Pitchers who have "average" stuff can have great results by simply being able to pinpoint a good-decent fastball AND a change-up.

The kid Ventura who's scheduled to pitch game 2 for KC does have great (electric) stuff but if he is wild and can't command his pitches- he's just another so-so pitcher struggling along.
We've seen hundreds of hard throwing young pitchers come along with good live arms who just couldn't put it together and figure it out.

...yeah, Ventura has a lot of pressure on him tonight...if the Royals lose, it's pretty much over.

Yep - I'd be very surprised if the Giants don't take 2/3 in SF.
It looks too easy to figure out - and most times it isn't but, if KC wins game 2, I can see the series eventually coming back to KC for a final two games- however, if SF wins game 2,
...I can also see a very short series.
    VERY short. lol

Re: WORLS SERIES picks..get em while they're hot

Waiting more than 3 days for a Series to begin is assinine, after both NLCS games are complete, hell make it 2 days.

Makes me think MLB is only in it for the money, as the quality of the game CONDITIONS, aren't the foremost priority. The W.S. are beginning to look more and more like the pre-Super Bowl Press Hype. Do they think no one will watch the games, without the hype? Give me the games, and fk the PR bullshit....not necessary...!

If, New York, Colorado, Minnesota, Detroit, BeanTown, Cleveland, Cincy, and perhaps a few other metropolis' host WS in November, were going to see our 1st "snow out" Series, one day.

Cut the season to 154 games, get rid of the 1 game wild cards, and cut down time between LCS and Series play. After all the 1st game Series Tickets don't even have a DATE on them....!!! Something's gotta give....

Re: WORLS SERIES picks..get em while they're hot

I like this kid Ventura. I enjoy the shit out of watching this young kid throw in the high 90s, with a looping curveball. Tho' his curve I'd ramp up to a hard slider....

    Fastball 1st
Hard Slider or Cut Fastball 2nd
    Hard Curve 3rd
then use His off speed looping curve as a 4th pitch

I don't wan't to see batters sitting back for that 2 strike hanging looping curve, ala Kershaw's downfall.

Unlike Koufax (who he's unfairly compared to) Kershaw has almost always used his looping hangar as his 2 strike out pitch. One can bank on it, the Cards sure as hell have for 2 years now. Koufax was in a league of his own, no one knew when he was going to use that looping curve....! The Mick said "how in the hell am I supposed to hit this guy" (excerpt from "The Mick" bio: referring to seeing a 1st pitch 99 mph heater, followed by a looper off speed, then another inside heater for striiiiiike 3), that is all....!
