Tremendously terrible news for the UFC as Cain Velasquez has been forced out of his bout with Fabricio Werdum in Mexico City at UFC 180. Velasquez has a knee injury. Mark Hunt will now face Werdum for the UFC Interim Heavyweight Championship of the World. The UFC was hoping to use Velasquez's somewhat uncertain star power to break into Mexico (pitting him against the Spanish-speaking Werdum on TUF Latin America) but will now have to rely on more traditional matchmaking. Velasquez, Anthony Pettis, and Dominic Cruz comprised 1/3 of the UFC's champions who were or are inactive for extended periods.

I really hope Hunto can catch Werdum with a big shot. He's got 1 round to do it before he gasses.

Hunt got into the UFC through a back door and people were complaining that he wasn't worthy.

He could be the UFC HW Champion.

well it sux to not see Cain defend his title... but that's a hell of a replacement IMO. Makes for a great story if Hunt can stuff the takedowns of Werdum.... cause Werdum is not winning a standup battle with Hunt unless he employees a win on points by jabbing and backing out of danger for 25 mins... a la Carlos Condit vs Nick Diaz.

Cain is having issues staying healthy. I do not like it.
