Not sure I like this... http://bronxbaseballdaily.com/2014/10/report-yankees-to-talk-to-raul-ibanez-about-hitting-coach-position/
Nothing against the guy but I don't see how the Yankees can consider this as an improvement over Long.
It's official, Magadan won't be the Yanx Hitting Coach..... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=mlb&id=11798418 As much I hope the powers to be, don't take Ibanez seriously for a Hitting Coach. Yeah, Raul could hit, but can he teach others to hit???? I really doubt it....
I got that same picture or feeling as well.....here's a stick of bazooka, for hustling out that bunt....!
Ibanez had earned respect from peers, field staff, opponents and fans everywhere he's played. Those factors alone merit consideration, wish the man luck, if chosen I think he'll do well.
The problems with the Yankees goes way beyond what a hitting coach can do. Because IMO a hitting coach is nothing more then a band aid being put on something that needs a freaking bandage.
I have long wondered how Kevin Long kept his job with the Yankees. I am excited about the thought of new hitting coach blood.
Who would you like to see as the new Hitting Coach, if all current Coaches or Mgr's were available. I would of liked to of seen Molitor come over, but he just got the promotion to Twinkies Mgr. I wish him well, other than when playing the Yanx, of course. Molitor was one of the more classiest players, along with his buddy Yount.
I wish Rod Carew were 20 years younger, and available.... Tho' a Hitting Coach can only do so much.... It will be interesting to see who gets the final interviews.... Heck, this entire off season and winter meetings will be interesting for Yankee Fans...
