How did you guys vote? I voted: No on Kitzhaber. Measure 86 - Yes Measure 87 - Yes Measure 88 - No Measure 89 - Yes Measure 90 - No Measure 91 - Yes Measure 92 - No
Democracy in action. They give you a chance to vote and you almost got it half right. No on all those measures but I rep you for no on Kitz though.
The more Government money flows in to help pay tuition, the high the tuition becomes. I see no good reason tax payers should be on the hook to make more money available to Higher education.
Measure 86 amends the Oregon Constitution to create a fund for Oregonians pursuing post-secondary education; authorizes debt to finance. If passed this law would allow the legislature to sell bonds for a higher education loan fund benefitting college students as well as career training programs; it would not raise taxes, but it would give state lawmakers more tools to help college and trade school students get the best education they can.
Considering you vote no on everything you see no good reason tax payers should be on the hook for anything.
And the legislature can borrow the money in the fund for what ever. All the write ups make it sound like free money with no new taxes. I don't think so. The tax payer may not be on the hook in this measure but it gives the legislature another way to borrow money with interest that will have to be paid and that will have to come from some where.
It's taking me a while . . . retired republicans who bash democrats and Obama any chance they get are tough to figure out how they might vote, but I think I'm catching on.
The thing about 91 is the people that vote yes just because they want to be able to smoke it legally. You know it's going to pass though just for that reason.
