In the spirit of last year's "Are the Suns for real?" thread. They have two Team USA players and a decent coach. And barring a miracle from the Nuggets, they are going to be 3-1 in a couple minutes. Thoughts?
No. I will be surprised if they can keep this up for 50 more games. There is some good talent on that roster though.
Only 4 games. We'll see after 20. Using the same mindset with the Blazers. Giving them 20 games as well.
Well they did just beat the Nuggets in Denver. That is historically a tough place to play. It just goes to show how tough the west is going to be this year.
I think every team in the West has a shot to make the playoffs. Even the Lakers. With Kobe, anything is possible. Utah and Sacramento are better this year. Denver has a decent roster most of whom earned the three seed two seasons ago. NOP has Davis and some good pieces around him. Any 8 could make these playoffs. There's no guarantee.
Didn't you just have a post earlier saying that everyone besides the Lakers has a chance to make the playoffs?
This question was posed the other day by Fonz. Who could be the surprise team out west? My response was the Kings simply because they have talent. A lot of it. They have a respected coach. And I think they are due.
How long did it take Zach to mature? It took trading him three times before he got it. DMC is a player that you can build around .......eventually. He's a 6'11" Z-Bo.
gotta wait a fourth of the season before declaring anything. They are good right now, out hustling teams and Gay/Cousins are playing all-star level. What happens when Gay or Cousins goes into a slump or get into foul trouble early? Still way to many questions to be answered before declaring any team that wasn't a playoff team in the west last year as playoff bound.
To be honest (tlong reference) Im happy for that fan base. Their management was a joke for way too long. They've endured so much like team moving, bad drafts, internal turmoil and being a laughing stock in the NBA. I wish them the best
Agreed. I grew up near Sacramento in the late 80's and early 90's in the days of Kenny Smith, Tisdale, Lionel Simmons, Mitch Richmond, Ainge, Del Negro and Harold Pressley. And and even though I was already a die hard Blazers fan I have always kinda liked the Kings and would love to see them have some success. Although I would note that I would much rather root for them if DMC can figure out not to be a knucklehead.
No I don't think they are for real. Rudy Gay and Boogie make an excellent core. Collison is decent and they have some solid role payers in Evans, Landry and Sessions but overall this team will struggle to find easy baskets, and they will struggle with some turnovers. This team can be near .500 but in the West I just don't see them having enough to make the playoffs. However, if they could swing a deal for someone like Rondo that might be another story but I still think they need a bit more perimeter shooting and at least one more quality piece.
