Major League Soccer to hold Chivas USA Dispersal Draft on Nov. 19
    [IMG]

Major League Soccer announced on Friday that it will hold the Dispersal Draft for former Chivas USA players on Nov. 19, and that all 20 MLS franchises will have the opportunity to take part.

To determine the draft order, MLS will hold a random weighted draw on Nov. 14 using an envelope method. The system will be weighted by giving the 2014 playoff clubs a single envelope and giving the non-playoff clubs two envelopes. The random selections will be conducted by an MLS league office representative until each club has been appointed a draft position.

Orlando City SC and New York City FC will participate in the Dispersal Draft and be treated as 2014 non-playoff qualifying clubs in the weighting order.

The Dispersal Draft will be held via private teleconference call with representatives from each club, and clubs will be given one minute to determine their selection. The draft will conclude when all MLS clubs forego a selection.

FC Dallas to have first pick in next week's MLS Dispersal Draft

On Friday, MLS conducted a weighted lottery to determine the order of next week's Chivas USA Dispersal Draft, and the envelope bearing FCD's card was drawn first. Oscar Pareja's side now make the first selection from among the eligible players from the Chivas USA roster.
    • READ: Dispersal Draft to be held on Nov. 19

After Dallas, 2015 expansion club New York City FC will select second with a chance to add an established MLS player to join high-profile signings David Villa and Frank Lampard, followed by Sporting KC, D.C. United, and the New England Revolution.

According to the league, draft picks for the Dispersal Draft cannot be traded.
    • Analyst: FC Dallas get top pick, but now what?

    Chivas USA Dispersal Draft order:
    1. FC Dallas
    2. New York City FC
    3. Sporting Kansas City
    4. DC United
    5. New England Revolution
    6. Montreal Impact

MLS teams to receive allocation money for players picked by NYCFC,
    Orlando City in Expansion Draft

With the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft around the corner there's a good chance that some MLS teams will not be able to keep all the players they want this offseason, but they can now rest a little easier knowing that they will be compensated for the players picked by New York City FC or Orlando City SC.

Not all players on MLS rosters will be available in the Expansion Draft. The 18 other teams will be able to protect up to 11 players on their roster, and players on Homegrown and Generation adidas contracts will be automatically protected unless they are on the Senior roster. Orlando and NYCFC will each get 10 picks in the draft, with Orlando picking first.

Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy selected first as MLS holds Chivas USA Dispersal Draft

It all went down as expected. Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, the jewel of the Chivas USA roster, was selected by FC Dallas with the first pick in the Chivas USA Dispersal Draft held on Wednesday.

Kennedy, 32, has been considered one of the league's top goalkeepers since assuming the starting role for the Rojiblancos in 2011.

Only six other players were selected during the draft, and all of them are young players.

2015 expansion club New York City FC added 20-year-old midfielder Matthew Dunn, who saw additional time late in the season, with the second pick.

D.C. United picked up versatile attacker Thomas McNamara, 23, who started the first six matches of the season and scored one goal before a knee injury in April sidelined him for the rest of the season.

The Montreal Impact then snagged Donny Toia, the 22-year-old breakout star of Chivas USA’s defense in 2014. The former Real Salt Lake Homegrown player started at left back for 24 of Chivas’ final 27 games.

The Colorado Rapids bolstered their young attacking corps with Caleb Calvert, an 18-year-old Homegrown player who didn't see any action in 2014 but has international experience at the youth level.

The San Jose Earthquakes nabbed 22-year-old forward Kristopher Tyrpak, a rookie who saw just 156 minutes of MLS action but posted a goal and an assist.

Finally, Marco Delgado was selected in the draft with the 14th pick by Toronto FC. A Homegrown, the 19-year-old midfielder/defender has already made 37 appearances for the club.

Each team protects 11 players between its Senior and Supplemental Rosters. Orlando City SC will pick first, then New York City FC will follow.

Each team will pick ten times. Once a player is chosen from a team's non-protected roster, that team can move a player from its non-protected roster to its protected roster. Additionally, once two players are selected from one team, that team is eliminated from the draft.

    Some additional notes
    • Homegrown players on the Supplemental Roster are automatically protected.

    • Each team must protect the number of international players it has, minus three.
    ◦ If the team has less than three international players, it can only make one available.
    ◦ If a team only has one international player, it does not have to make him available.
    ◦ For this Expansion Draft, all non-domestic U.S. players are international players.

    • Team's Designated Players are not automatically protected.

    • If a club protects a player, it is not obligated to exercise his option and can renegotiate.

MLS releases list of eligible players for Stage One of Re-Entry Draft
    [IMG]

The first stage of the Re-Entry Process – when clubs can claim players by exercising their current options or extending them a bona fide offer as stipulated by the CBA – will take place on Friday at 3 pm ET.

The results of the draft will be published on MLSsoccer.com.

Players that go unselected in the first stage will then be available for the second stage, held on Dec. 18. According to league rules, teams will have seven days to make a bona fide offer to the players they select in Stage 2 and if an agreement can't be reached, the club will hold the right of first refusal for that player in MLS.

Any players not picked up after Stage 2 become available to any MLS club on a first-come, first-served basis.
