Still unsigned and talk of Bulls, Clips, Cavs, even Miami being interested in bringing him back. I think he'd be the final piece to our bench if he were to come here. Any way we can entice him? Do we even have a shot? We'd also need to waive someone (sorry, Vic) to clear room.
As a backup wing, I think we can squeeze him in for 20mpg. Take all of Will/Allen mins and cut a bit out of Blake/CJ. We all have highlighted the need for another scorer at the wing spot off the bench to add to Kaman's contribution, Ray could definitely be it. I hope Neil is at least showing some interest.
Well Allen has played in Seattle for a long part of his career. It's not like I hate the idea. Allen is a champion and won with two different teams. I think he's proven he knows how to go in cold and make huge contributions. But I'm still a believer with the players we have right now. CJ will eventually get it. He's already starting to improve. The last thing I want is for an aging player to steal his minutes.
Again this is the type of player that should be able to see that we are a perfect fit but they want the bright lights and big city. It would be nice to at least to a team of interest once. But it will make it that much sweeter to do it with the team that we have.
I think that's right. If we were 1 piece from contending for title I'd go for it. But we need more than RA to get there. We have to develop our young guys, or at least give them minutes to showcase as trade bait. As long as our young guys are unknown assets to us, they're unknown to the rest of the league also (and as such have little to no trade value) It is tempting though.
Ray Allen is almost 40 years old, does he really want to come back? He'd basically be a spot up shooter at this point, not sure if he'd be much better than CJ or Crabbe.
Simmons thinks he's going to join Doc in LA. I think that's more likely than him coming back to the NW.
Don't tell Ray Ray he's old. "He (still) got game" as he showed last June in the finals. http://www.nba.com/video/channels/top_plays/2014/06/05/20140605-dunk-of-the-night.nba/
If we are talking about championships then why wouldn't you? We may not have time for him...You make time for him. I would much rather have Ray Allen than CJ McCollum. Ray has been in the bright lights before where players like Wes Mathews, Lillard and Alridrige have not
I think we're there. OKC/CHI look iffy with injuries, Cavs look like they'll take a while, Clips have some glaring holes on defense and wing production. I'm not buying HOU, TOR or GSW as championship contenders for some reason or the other. MEM and SAS, I'm a bit scared of because they have everything in place to win it all. But that's it. I think the door is just wide open right now for the right team before CLE figures it out, and OKC comes back healthy. With Ray, I think we would jump to the top of the west. We have everything else.
