I don't know if that story has the right angle. Perhaps those young dudes are about to meet a nightmare.
Pretty amazing what happens when one edits a sentence. After reading the story, what seems to escape most is that the caption was a question, not a statement. Removing the "or not" creates easy fodder for those race hustling ass hats that would rather divide.
You really think the "or not" makes a difference? Good on the kids for walking out. Good on them for learning that what is said on social media matters. It's a lesson that even adults are having a very difficult time with. They're not asking for anyone to be fired, they're asking for an explanation. As someone who edits out personal insults the "or not" doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot.
So if I post, "You're a racist ***got, or not." adding the "or not" makes it perfectly fine? Sorry but I disagree.
If you're in a position of power how about you don't tweet.. If you do want to post this stuff, post it under a fake account or something. Not worth losing your job over something so avoidable.
The "or not" doesn't make the tweet right. Editing out the "or not" in the headline intentionally makes the tweet sound even worse than it was, and paints the tweeter in the worst possible light. The kids did the right thing by protesting. The guy's a dumbass for tweeting it. I think he should be fired or at the very least severely reprimanded for tweeting it. But whoever selectively edited the headline deserves to be called out as well. '
What's with the animosity? If you were raising blond Highland cattle, would you buy an Angus bull? You'd get caves but not Highlanders.
To take this one step further, how can we condemn the original text, we simply have no point of reference. He could have been proud of how well the student body have blended, and the lack of racial divide. The whole idea of and social norm being one generation removed is an idea that I have taken as truth. None of us know the intent. How can we place our judgement with so little knowledge.
Sly my brother..you should change your avatar to a chihuahua, at least they look like a troll. Of course "or not" changes the make up of the sentence from an absolute statement to a question. ok, and as far as the kids walking out...really? You approve? The whole thing reeks of race baiting bull shit, and over reacting on all fronts. Had the situation been reversed and the white kids walked out, they would have been suspended. Bet on it.
