    One season after finishing last in the Metropolitan Division, the new-look New York Islanders are challenging Pittsburgh for the top spot in the eight-team division. Protecting a third-period lead at home against surging Tampa Bay in their latest win was another sign of their improvement.

    Cal Clutterbuck, Mikhail Grabovski and Ryan Strome scored in the second period to lift the Islanders to a 5-2 victory over the Lightning on Tuesday night.
