OK, I know the guy isn't great, but...

"This season, Telfair appeared in 16 games (one start) with the Thunder, averaging 8.4 points, 2.8 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per contest."

With all their injuries, I think they'd want to hang onto one of the few healthy bodies they have. So, does this mean Westbrook is much closer to returning than originally expected?

Reggie Jackson is the back up and will pretty much eat up all the PG minutes when Westbrook isn't on the court. They still have Ish Smith as a 3rd PG on the roster, but he was was playing behind Telfair, far behind.

I wonder if this was a cost cutting move. I wander if Telfair's contract became fully guaranteed if he was still on the roster on 12/1, or something like that. Their tightwad hillbilly owners wouldn't pay Harden or amnesty Perkins. So, maybe that $1.3 million they were paying Telfair was seriously impacting their net worth.

Yes, they do - if Telfair was on a vet min contract. It will be interesting to hear why OKC cut one of the few healthy guys on their roster.

If he is, he's been doing a great job hiding it. I smell a smokescreen...

Locker room discord. You can tell when he's on the court he thinks he's a lot better than he actually is.

If that's the reason, they should waive Westbrook, too.

That's surprising. Well, Telfair really a blew a chance to show off his game. The minutes were there but he didn't produce.

Yeah, he wasn't playing All NBA ball, but he didn't actually suck either (at least compared to the guys they didn't waive). He averaged 8.6 PPG and 2.9 APG and only 1.1 TOV in 20 MPG of the bench. His PER of 12.3 is actually better than Mo's was last year in Portland (11.8). He still can't shoot or finish at the rim, but they knew that when the signed him.

There has to be more to this than his play. I think Westbrook is coming back sooner than expected, and with Westbrick and Reggie Jackson getting all the PG minutes, I think they figured Telfair was expendable.
