Thank God we swapped LMA for Tyrus Thomas and Viktor Krapola. Best. Deal. Ever. Well..it did result in our continuing to suck enough to land us Rose...
As always, thanks bullsger for the first-rate game thread. Sent from my Venue 8 Pro 5830 using Tapatalk
I'm having a very hard time stomaching Thibs' rotations in this game. He's the reason this is even close right now.
After calling a time out with 4:00 left to put the defensive minded Pau Gasol in the game (who promptly allowed two wide-open Lillard threes, allowed an offensive rebound and then fouled Aldridge as he crossed the lane) now he brings Mirotic back with :40 left? What gives? And why would you ever take Aaron Brooks out of the game given how well that lineup was working?
The defensive-minded Pau Gasol gets out rebounded again. Twice. Before Gibson finally grabs the board.
I like Pau Gasol. I think he gives you a ton in a lot of different circumstances. But he can't guard Lillard in pick and roll or Aldridge straight up. He's getting beat on the boards and he looks worn down. And I'm not the biggest Brooks fan, but he's a primary reason the Bulls are going to win this game. This would be an easy victory if Thibs just would have stuck with the Rose-Brooks-Butler-Taj-Mirotic lineup.
Yeah, I'm caught up now. It was closer there than it should have been. The reason it bothers me is not because the Bulls risked losing the game. I'm bothered by the fact that Thibs is mismanaging short term (playing Pau and Hinrich in situations where they don't match up well) while he's also mismanaging long term (giving Pau and Hinrich too many minutes causing them to wear down).
I think with a lead like they had, the idea is you put in your guys with the best hands and best FT shooters. Even with 4 minutes left. Pau had Q3 intermission and 8 minutes of Q4 of rest.
