"The Chicago Bulls announced tonight that forward Doug McDermott will have an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee (tomorrow, December 13). The procedure will be performed by Chicago Bulls head team physician Dr. Brian Cole of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. A timetable for his return will be determined after the procedure." Source
I gotta believe that McDermott's out til late Feb at least. It appears that there's no wing out there that they're afraid will get snatched up by some other team. So I guess that Butler's going to keep getting 40+, Dunleavy 30+ and Hinrich 25+. Maybe Thibodeau will cozy up to the Rose-Brooks guard pairing to limit Hinrich's minutes.
McDermott out. 6-8 weeks K.C. Johnson @KCJHoop Bulls team physician Brian Cole repaired small meniscus tear in McDermott's right knee. 6-8 week rehab likely.
Three things come to mind. 1) It's hard to blame injuries on being played too many minutes. The guy barely saw the floor, especially lately. 2) How is the guy, robbed of his athleticism by knee surgery, going to compensate? 3) Other than the Rose injury, this may be one of the severest unlucky blows to the organization, ever.
K.C. Johnson @KCJHoop McDermott played all 145 games over 4 seasons at Creighton. Attributed this injury to random wear and tear over time.
Trading up to get him, his apparent suckitude and then this injury. The worst blunder of the Gar Forman era?
Wasn't he Pax' assistant? EDIT - yes, he was a scout for the Bulls for 11 years prior to becoming GM.
Sun-Times Basketball @suntimes_hoops McDermott surgery went well. 4-6 weeks. Well now. Went from 6-8 weeks down to 4-6 weeks
