I was totally unaware of The Bosses, affairs in support of the NYPD. Remarkable, Very Honorable..... Odd how it is:, we often forget a bit of what we once had, or alot on some cases....In this case, The Spirit of The Boss, is still alive and well....! It's a warm fuzzy feeling to read an article like this....thanks Rick...!
Rob I'd like to believe that had the Yankees not done this, that someone else would have come forward.
The Yankee Silver Shield Foundation, started by late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, was set up to provide funds for the education of children of fallen New York police officers, firefighters and Port Authority employees. The Boss did alot of good things for alot of people. Paying for funerals, picking up hospital bills, turning around the life a young graffiti artist when he was caught by cops defacing YS property. "GOOGLE IT" God bless The NY Yankees and may George Steinbrenner RIP.
The Silver Shield foundation was started in 1982 so WTF are these Garner assholes talking about. It was formed solely for the children of fallen Police & fire fighters. Not for over weight idiots resisting arrest.
