I'm looking to sell my old Iphone 5. Today I brought it into the Apple Store to have the screen fixed. When I did that, they told me that my account had to be deactivated in Icloud for this phone. So I logged in and did that. I picked it up and now I'm trying to erase all my content from my phone so that I can sell it. However it wants me to log in using my Apple ID. When I log in using my Apple ID, It gives me an error that says verification failed there was an error connecting to icloud Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks
Is that turning the phone off. And then Holding the home and power button down for 10 secs? If that is the case, I did that and didn't work.
That's exactly what I'm doing. I select erase all content from phone and then it asks me for my apple id log in. When I put it in. It gives me that error. I even tried doing it through itunes, it then again wants me to go into iCloud and turn off find my iPhone. When I do that, I again get the same error.
Thinking it has to do with what they had me do today or its due to the phone being off of cell network.
I hope you have a sync'd backup on your computer of everything that was in Icloud..... http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
So I go into settings into icloud, scroll to bottom, select sign out and the delete account, it then asks me for my apple id and passworld which leads to same error.
You don't delete the account. Hard reset. Then it should be factory fresh. When your phone resets you set it up as a new phone. I don't know why you're trying to sign into iCloud
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6542960 Try this. Older solution from last year. Just google the error message that's what I usually do http://alliosnews.com/2013/09/20513/It is being widely reported that some users are experiencing errors with iCloud after upgrading to iOS 7. The issue has to do with the iCloud Terms & Conditions which were changed with the new version of iOS. After upgrading, users are prompted to accept the new iCloud Terms & Conditions but when they attempt to do so they get a “Unable to connect to server” error. This then disables iCloud on their device. iCloud site from an iPhone If you have experienced this error here is how to get around the error. On your iPhone or iPad go to http://www.icloud.com. There you will see the options to setup iCloud on your device, Install Find My iPhone and Install Find My Friends. Tap the Install Find My Friends – even if you already have it installed. This will then take you to the App Store where you can either install Find My Friends or open it if you already have it installed. You will be prompted for your iCloud password. Enter it then you will see a dialog box saying that the iCloud Terms & Conditions have changed and you need to accept them. Tap on View to view the iCloud Terms & Conditions then tap Agree at the bottom of the page. This should solve the problem for you and iCloud will immediately begin working on all of your devices once again.
It's probably asking you to log into iCloud to verify it's OK to erase the phone. It's pretty drastic, and you don't want anyone who picks up the phone to be able to do it. Logging out of iCloud on the iPhone doesn't hurt your iCloud information. You'll be able to login on a new iPhone, your computer, on the WWW in the browser, etc., still.
You've got some cloud stuck in your phone. Just run it through the dishwasher and that should take care of it.
