Lillard lives for the big moments. That's what sets him apart from just about every point guard in the league.
Lillard looks for other teammates as well. Westbrook freezes out dudes in crunch time. It's been the same way his entire career.
was that the first time lillard referenced anything about lillard time? also, that might be the biggest act of celebrating so far... but always, there will be a dame face.
I thought both these things... "Wow he's really hot dogging and celebrating... Lol!" He's so low key!
TIP-INS Trail Blazers: After official Sean Corbin called a foul on Lillard that sent Westbrook to the free throw line, Portland coach Terry Stotts yelled at Corbin, saying he shouldn't reward Westbrook "just because he cries every time." ...
^lol if it wasn't for Westbrook whining and getting a T in the final minutes, the game never would have went to OT
A great post from clutchfans: "They were up by 10 with 100 seconds left. Westbrook committed a very dumb foul by attempting to steal the ball from behind 40 feet from the hoop to give Lillard two free throws. On top of that he got a technical for complaining. That started the comeback for Portland. He also didn't run enough time off the clock on the next couple of possessions and missed a critical FT at the end. Poor game management right there. A smarter star would not have allowed his team to lose there." A smarter star didn't allow his team to lose there.
Stotts is awesome. He really gives it to the refs, I think he said (lip reading on my part) "That's fucking bullshit" when Harden got the most phantom of phantom calls on Monday.
http://bkref.com/tiny/y0Gdd This is the kind of third year Dame is having, by the way. I like the names on that list.
As gifted athletically as Westbrook is, and as dominate he can be. He would drive me crazy if he was on the Blazers. The mental mistakes he makes are the same mistakes a rookie makes. Honestly he is gifted to be the #1 pg in the league and a top 5 player. However with his low basketball IQ. He'll never be there. Honestly I seriously have to question if he's even in the top 5 pg discussion.
Yeah I think he does it the right way and the right amount of time. Some coaches are too passive (Nate) and some are too constant (Doc) Stotts was a little too passive his first year, but he has it down now. You have to fight for your players or they will end up getting T's. The bottom line is it works. If you do it in a respectful way the refs will listen and you might get a call in crunch time that you want not otherwise normally get. The T on Westbrook was huge and quite frankly questionable. I doubt the refs calls it in a closer game. But down 10 the ref probably thought it was over, so why not make a point? Turned out to be a game changer.
Exactly. He would drive me nuts because he genuinely thinks he's the best player on that team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rookie/Ego. It doesn't matter. Bottom line is the same mistakes he makes are plays he shouldn't be making anymore. He's been in the league how long? It's time for Westbrook to grow up. Rookies/young players can get away with the mistakes he makes. Not NBA Veterans.
