[tweet]547817198841266176[/tweet] This was the tweet I was waiting for. Greg Anthony is the one analyst I respect
Don't tell Dame. Tell Greg to edit his tweet so it doesn't link to Dame's twitter. Dame has used this as wood on the fire. Don't slow it down now, Dame!
Last night, Damian Lillard became the 2nd player in NBA history with 40 points, 10 assists, and eight 3's in a game.
Damian shooting just a touch over 40% from 3P this year. Guys like Trevor Ariza, Trey Burke, Kobe Bryant, Brandon Jennings, Josh Smith, Andrew Wiggins aren't even shooting 40% overall from the floor.
Oh geez, I hardly think that is real. Damian is a good guard, but hardly a top point guard. A top Point Guard can get an assist by setting up each of his team mates in turn. A good bucket attempt for all his teammates on demand. I don't see this aspect of the game from Lillard at all. No pick n roll with Lamarcus like we saw from Rudy. Remember how the MVP Steve Nash could drop dimes on demand? Like 24 a game, a thing of beauty. If Lillard would learn that trade with the talent on this team, gawd this team would be awesome.
Oh negative nancy. Just stop being a hater... Nash never played a LICK of D... It's why he'll NEVER win a title. We need Lillard to score. We like Lillard's scoring. Give it a rest... 24 dimes a game??? WTF are you talking about??
Fine, you like what you wish. Playing D and playing PG on offense are not mutually exclusive skills. But I will totally disagree that we need the Lillard to "score". We need the team to score and the best way to do that is use the skills on the team to the maximum advantage. Lillard has skills yet to be tapped and they is no good reason for that to be the law.
Steve Nash's first year in the NBA - 138 assists Lillard's --------------------------- 531 assists 2nd season Nash - 262 Lillard - 457 3rd season Nash - 219 Lillard - 188 So yes, in their 3rd seasons Nash was a better point guard because he got more assists.
Although third season for Lillard ain't over yet. I have no doubt Lillard will pass him too. Way to blow the Nash vs Lillard argument out of the water!
I think the comparison being made was during Nash's peak years as the leagues best PG, not the first three years in the league were he barely sniffed the court until his 3rd year. AND his third year was the strike shortened year, so he played 40 games, not 82.
Plus, Nash shot 50-40-90 4 times in his career (almost 7 times actually). That's a pretty high standard
Do you think that Lillard is currently in his peak years in the NBA? Yes or No, has Lillard gotten better each year in the NBA so far? Do you think Lillard will get 31 more assists in the next 10 games? My point is valid.
I love your takes, bro. But I don't need Greg Anthony telling me Dame is the best. I already know that!
But there ain't a prime Nash in the NBA right now. The comment by Anthony is on the current NBA, not ESPN Classic.
