I've been wanting to get back into graphics, but I no longer have photoshop, and don't want to get it illegally. I've never tried GIMP before, but I've heard it's almost just as good. Does anyone here use it, or could I get an opinion on it?

    1. I kind of don't want to get PS period. It's too big and slows down my computer immensely. 2. It never works for me. I would if I could.

If you already got an illegal photoshop before, you can download the trial and it'll be full version [IMG]

Well I don't know a lot about GIMP, but I know you really can't get that good of a BG unless your like REALLY expierenced. Like here's a GIMP siggy: [IMG][IMG]Then here's something that you can get if your like a beginner. [IMG]So it's sorta like PS - just you lack good looks.

It takes a little bit more to get used to since the interface is set up weird. But after a while you'll get it.http://www.gimptalk.com/ is the place to go to for Brushes tutorials, tpis, etc. It isn't as easy to learn as photoshop and it would take you longer to start creating PS like sigs.

GIMP is more powerful than PS if used properly, but its extremely hard. You have to be like porfessional graphics designer to do that stuff. You download scripts for it, edit the macros, all that sh*t. PS is more user friendly. Its an amazing program though. Its better than PaintShopPro even.

GIMP is a small notch below Photoshop. I have CS2 and GIMP, but I use GIMP for everything since I've had it for 2 years and it is just easier for me. You can do a lot of things with GIMP. Feel free to hit me up on AIM, my screen name is kadillakk for any help.
