Celtic's UEFA Champions League game with Milan will go ahead at the San Siro. The venue for the game next month had been in doubt as a result of the violence that rocked Italian football earlier this month. Following the death of a police officer during the Sicilian derby the Italian government demanded stricter security procedures at grounds across the country. The home to Milan and Internazionale was one of 12 Serie A venues deemed off-limits after failing to meet new security standards. However, following emergency work at Giuseppe Meazza the ground was passed safe for last weekend's clash between Milan and Livorno. Uefa have now decided that Celtic's trip to Milan and Valencia's clash with Internazionale will both be played at the San Siro, but that crowd capacity will be limited. Inter play host to Valencia next Tuesday, while Celtic travel to Milan on 7th March. The permitted capacity for the Inter tie will be 36,000 and although the decision on the capacity for the Celtic tie has yet to be decided 4,500 seats will be made available for fans of the Scottish club. Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell was delighted to finally have the issue resolved. "We are pleased that our supporters will be able to attend this match as initially planned and look forward to an exciting game in the San Siro," Lawwell told the club's official website. "Celtic officials, together with representatives of Strathclyde Police, will be travelling to Italy to meet with Milan and the Italian authorities to ensure that we are satisfied with all arrangements put in place for this match."
