Not sure if this has been publicly announced, but the dealing has been going on behind the scenes for some time now. We and the owners/staff/members of justbball.com have agreed to move that site to SportsTwo. This is something our mods and gms have known about for a while now, and we've been discussing all the things it's going to take to make this a highly successful move for both sites (S2 being the resulting site).
What this does is bring us another 50 active members (off-season) online during peak times, about 150 guests online, 800K more posts, and 12K more members.
More people to get involved in things like GM Draft, our Pick Em games, SportsBook, posting, etc. I think it's going to be a huge thing for both sites going forward. A key thing to keep in mind is that it's not an US vs. THEM kind of thing. We're all one big community the second the move has been completed.
Their admins and moderators will retain similar positions at S2. As with previous moves like this, their posts and post counts and threads and other forum content will become part of S2's offering.
They have a robust GFX Team and one of their admins is a prolific writer/blogger who will run a writing/blogging team/program for S2. They run a number of msg board style games and contests, too, so it's certain to be even more fun here at S2.
The actual move will likely occur Friday 9/7 at 11PM PT (2AM ET). Both sites will be down for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. If S2 doesn't go down right on schedule, it's because I can do some parts of the move with S2 being live. But be warned that the site may be shut down at any time after that time, so post at your own risk!

I'm glad to get more GFX guys over here. I wouldn't say its US vs THEM in terms of the BBall board, more around the lines of Nets fans vs Those to be awakened.
I've been very excited about this the past week or so, let's make this work guys, the activity of this site will be going up big time after this.
Good thing I didn't take up that bet that S2 would have over 19,000 members with Petey then? I just have a knack for making good bets, and not making bad ones.

Is the move happening tonight (aka tommorow morning?) so when I check the site tommorow night, the move should be done?
It'll be nice having more members, basketball interested. It'll be nice to have more fans of a larger variety of different teams.

Yeah, but one of those times is in one day, and one in the next day, so I don't know if its happening tonight or tommorow. (if the 9/7 is being derived from the Eatern time, or the Pacific time).

This is great, I can't wait. This should really spark up the basketball discussion, just in time for the season. This will be a great move for S2 and JBB.
I hope this goes better thenwhen you got BBW.How many of those people post still? (I was new there when you got me)

QUOTE (Ed the Decider)

I hope this goes better then when you got BBW. How many of those people post still? For the person that asked how things would go, and if it would be smoother than the BBW thing.

QUOTE

Hey everyone, For the longest time, we've been trying to turn JBB into something more than just a forum. We've been running off vBulletin for the past few years, and even though it's the best, most customizable messageboard system out there, it is still rather limiting. We've tried hacking it into a blog system. We've tried hacking an articles system and tried multiple versions of a frontpage. We've tried adding a number of other features that didn't even come close to making daylight because we did not want to risk our server stability and we did not have the resources. The fact is, we couldn't be anything more than just another vBulletin site. We were not able to add anything new or exciting to separate us from other boards. As a result, our registration rates and user activity have become rather stagnant compared to previous years. But that's all gonna change. We've been in talks with another company that is backed by investors and has full-time programmers on staff. It's a new company, but they are gaining a lot of momentum. They have the staff, talent and resources to implement all the things we've ever wanted: scores, stats, news, contests -- all in real-time -- and a few other really cool features that I can't talk about at the moment. Within the next couple weeks, JustBBall.com will officially merge with SportsTwo.com. SportsTwo.com (as in Sports 2.0) will have all of the features I mentioned, for all of the major sports. These guys have already acquired several other sports communities, but we will be one of the first to merge with them. And when I say "merge," I mean we will all remain on staff there and we will represent the basketball community as JustBBall. Ian will play a big role with the upper management on the direction of the site. Hunter, Sean and I will continue to be administrators and our goal will remain the same -- to be the best basketball community on the net! And with the S2 technology, we'll be able to give you so much more than just a messageboard! In the meantime, just sit back and keep doing your thing at JBB. There will be no need to go over there and register...your account will be migrated for you. Sometime over next couple weeks, you'll wake up to a new era of JustBBall. Please feel free to ask us questions over AIM or in this thread. Long live JBB! -Mel

So it should be very, very smooth as a transition, with pretty much every member staying.
