NVE-"I would love to play for the Knicks"

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The New York Knicks still want to upgrade their point guard position and talented lead guard Nick Van Exel still wants to become a Knick. The Knicks' Antonio McDyess and the Timberwolves' Sam Cassell also want Van Exel to join the Knicks.

Van Exel and McDyess, former teammates in Denver, talk about it all the time, Van Exel said. Cassell offered his opinion when he was asked if he was surprised Latrell Sprewell was traded for Keith Van Horn. Cassell replied, "The Knicks need Nick Van Exel right now."

Van Exel went from Dallas to Golden State on Aug. 18, and can't be moved before Oct. 18. It's clear Van Exel doesn't want to stay in Golden State. Knicks' general manager Scott Layden has tried to acquire Van Exel before. So Van Exel continues to hope.

"I would love to play for the Knicks," he said. "I'm hoping. That's all I can do."</div>

The Knicks need a scoring threat so bad, I would love to see NVE and Houston in the backcourt with Mcdyess and Van Horn down low. My fingers are crossed

    Nick

The newest rumor is NVE for Charlie Ward and Kurt Thomas. Nick would be an upgrade at the point, but he doesn't make them a playoff team. Dyess still has to prove he can be productive after the knee problems (should he even play), they still wouldn't have a serviceable center, and Keith Van Horn is the most overrated player in the league (still).

The Knicks need to be in the lottery the next couple of years before they are worth ticket prices.

Knicks with NVE are a playoff team

    PG Van Exel
    SG Houston
    SF Van Horn
    PF Dice or Sweetney
    C Spoon?

Thats more than good enough for a 6th seed....Depends on Dice's health though...

    Huh?

Okay so assume Dyess is healthy. Clarence Weatherspoon is your starting center? Oh, sorry you must have meant Theresa Weatherspoon, or Sofia Witherspoon. Tim Witherspoon? Okay I'm stumped. Since the tallest one of them is 6'5" none of them can guard another teams center, even in the Eastern conference.

If you say Othela Harrington or Travis Knight you might make yourself laugh. Knick fans will cry. Why do we even want to be a 6th seed? To lose in the first round? I'd rather bring back Ron Cavenall and Ken "the animal" Bannister with the promise of the lottery.

at center w/o thomas that would give the knicks in the "ah what the hell"mode and put in lampe at C he will give you a nice 8 ppg, and yes they can be playoff bound with nva AND a healthy dyess(remember in the preseason last year he had around an avg of 12 pts 15 rebs thats mighty good)
