sid hartman reports in todays star tribune, that the T'Wolves have contacted Free Agent Karl Malone about joining the Wolves, Malone wants a title, the wolves would likely deliver just that, thoughts?

that would be an interesting lineup w/ numerous possibilities, they could either, move kg to sf, and start malone at pf, or move kg to c, with no more shaq in the west this could be possible, and malone to pf, or leave the lineup as is, and use malone as a spark off the bench, the possiblities are endless, but the question is will malone have enough left to play one more year, or will he be injured 90% of the year, and is he worth the little money the wolves have left.

here is the arcticle from the star tribune

"There has been some talk by wolves officials about talking to NBA great Karl Malone about joining the the Wolves. Feelers already might have been put out to see if Malone has any interest. But currently, the goal is to sign Fred Hoiber and Trenton Hassell before any outside player are brought in.
Neither Hoiberg nor Hassell has agreed to a contract. Hassell has some interest from Portland.
Wolves Owner Glen Taylor said that with the salary cap going up only $30 million, he will lose $20 million for the 2003-2004 seson rather than $15 million as expected. "we dont have any debt so we can borrow the money," Taylor said."

If we were to get Malone, I would have us keep the same line-up and have Malone play off the bench. It's the safest way to use Karl's skill efficiently and work around injuries. I wouldn't move KG to another spot, or change the SF spot.

Wont happen malone has been quoted as saying he will not play for any other team but the lakers if he returns. He also was a big part in helping them get divac so I think he stays with the lakers.

If this is true and he was willing to come off the bench for the wolves then this is exactly what the wolves need inside tuffness. Point guards last year just drove the lane at will on the wolves without any of their bigs putting a body on them, Karl isnt going to stand for that to long(ie making Tony Parker hit the ground a few times in game 4 in LA). Also I think Karl can still be more than just a spot up mid-range shooter like he was in LA alongside shaq. I think Karl can still get some low post basket & interior points is something the wolves desperately need. Also Karl Malone's tuffness & emotions might wear on Kandiman and He might wake up & realize that he is an NBA bigbody. And learn to get in there and mix it up & throw his body around.

Naw it isnt. Divac said in his press conference that he was only here because malone had said if returned for the lakers he would play for less money so they could perssue divac. He also said in the article after opting for free agency it was a business move if he plays another season it will be for the lakers. Also he may be talking to other teams, but probable wont leave the lakers. Kobe talked to the clippers, nuggets, suns, and alot of opther teams but didnt leave the lakers.

You said that the "sid hartman reports in todays star tribune, that the T'Wolves have contacted Free Agent Karl Malone about joining the Wolves." That isn't what he said at all. He said that the "There has been some talk by Wolves officials about talking to NBA great Karl Malone about joining the the Wolves." Talking about talking to him & actually talking with him aren't the same thing.

Personally, I'd love seeing him in a T'Wolf uniform.

Yes, he has talked to other teams, but has already asked the Lakers to sign Divac (which they did) so he has a better front court to play with if he decides to play another season. So, Im leaning towards him signing with the Lakers if he returns.

I can confirm that Malone is in deep disussions with coach Pop about playing for the Spurs next season but according to Pop, won't be able to play till at least the half way point of the year because of his injury.

Thanx for the update, All. Didn't Malone say that if he wasn't 100%, he'd retire???
