<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The NBA and its players association denied a radio report Tuesday that they were near an agreement that would require players to wait three years after their high school graduation year to enter the league.

A representative for the owners acknowledged the sides met at the union's New York headquarters to advance negotiations on a new labor contract to replace the one that expires after this season.

''But no way did we devote a lot of time or reach any agreement on one particular thing,'' he said. ''It's much too early for that, and it amazes me how the media fabricate things to report as news.''

Billy Hunter, executive director of the players association, also dismissed the WSCR-AM (670) report but said there was ''positive dialogue on the issues.'' No date was given for the next meeting.

NBA commissioner David Stern has made it clear that he and his owners are seeking a minimum age requirement of 20 for players to enter the NBA. If that rule had been in effect, players such as the Bulls' Eddy Curry, Tyson Chandler and Luol Deng, the Cavaliers' LeBron James and the Lakers' Kobe Bryant would not have been able to enter the NBA as early as they did.</div> Source
