Thread: Official JBB 2005 NBA Mock Draft Rnd 2 (v3.0)

The long awaited Version 3.0 of the 2nd Round of the 2005 Draft is finally completed. Fellow JBB Members, Voodoo Child, Shapecity, and CourtKing have put together an updated list and as a bonus a new feature to the Official JBB Mock Draft, <font color="Blue">Players on the Bubble</font>.

Over the last few weeks, the draft picture became a little more clear, but at the same time a lot of surprise players have declared. The influx of high schoolers has committed to test the NBA waters this year, in fear of a possible age limit restriction with the new CBA. So who makes the list and who finds themselves on the bubble?

Just a little mistake, you forgot to write the Lakers have the 38th pick from ATL which is from NY.

I'm happy with the Knicks pick. Getting a nice back up point guard will be nice for us. Also we will be bringing him back to his hometown. I wish Hodge will slip to us though.

They just processed the transaction the other day, as part of the Theo Ratliff trade.

So nobody has any comments on our mock draft other than errors we made on the team draft order?

I think Will Conroy will get drafted. He has been working his butt off in workouts and has been impressing scouts with his leadership ability and pure point guard skills. He'd be a very safe late 2nd round pick as he will work hard to make it in the NBA. I personally think Conroy will be drafted before Filiberto Rivera or Anthony Roberson.

Another player on your bubble that I think should get drafted is Jason Maxiell. He's been doing the same thing Conroy is doing. He balled up at Portsmouth, and despite his lack of height, he still has raw strength and could be a Reggie Evans type player at the next level as a shorter overachiever in the key.

As good of a 2nd round mock as you can really make though, although Nate Robinson should be higher .

Will Conroy is a special player, and that's why we have him on the bubble, but his stock isn't as high as Roberson or Rivera's right now. No matter how hard he works, he doesn't have as good of a resume as a lot of the guys on our bubble.

I also like Jason Maxiell. In fact, he was in our first draft of this second round mock. However, there's just too much talent in the draft right now. A lot of these kids will pull out though and make room for Maxiell, but until then, it's just too crowded. Who would you put him over in that mock draft?

As for Nate Robinson, no matter how talented he is, he's only 5-9. Players like Robinson can really slip on draft day. Not many people want to take that kind of risk.

Even though I would love it, do you think Hodge will slip that far?

Why would Utah waste another pick on a high school guard when Sloan would rather have a proven guy? They already had a high school bust in Deshawn Stevenson.

The Jazz have a lot of draft picks this year, if they do keep them, they can afford to gamble on a high risk, high return prospect. The Jazz already have a proven shooting guard in Gordon Giricek, plus Kirk Snyder, and they plan to bring back Raja Bell. CJ Miles will likely be stored away on the bench to develop and he will have to earn playing time by playing solid defense. CJ Miles has a high Basketball IQ, and gives the Jazz another player that can create their own shot and enjoys taking the ball to the basket.

I think Utah would pick Ronny Turiaf before C.J. Miles. because he's big body down low that they can use. With the last pick Utah won't take Mindaugas Katelynas . His only career highlight is winning the college dunk contest. Jose Juan Barea , Taylor Coppenwrath Chris Thomas Dijon Thompson, B.J. Elder Lawerence Roberts(late-1st rounder if he came out las year", and Chevon Troutman are all players better than Mindaugas Katelynas. I also think Nate Robinson would be higher. He's the next Earl Boykins, but he's taller. He would have been a late-1st rounder last year too. What ever happen to Gerry McNamara from Syaracuse, he's was a senior year. You don't think he can play pro.

Jerry McNamara is a senior this season. He will have a chance in next year's draft.

Why would they take Ronny Turiaf ahead of CJ Miles? The Utah frontline is already tough with Boozer, Humphries, and Ben Handlogten. Plus Kirilenko plays minutes at the 4 as well.

The Jazz need to get more athletic and improve the overall speed on the team.

The Jazz could take a lot of players over Mindaugas Katelynas, it was the last pick in the draft, and right now we have his stock higher than a fewer other players, so that's why he's there.

Ben Handlogten? He ain't gonna come back. He was just a fill in due to all the injuries. Then Humphries is a little undersized and he was always tired. Ronny Turiaf is also a little athletic from what i've seen of him. They can get a fast guy with the 2nd first round pick.

Check the date and the version. This is pretty old. Our latest mock draft (v4) has Graham in the first round, and our one that we're posting soon (v5) that has the new lottery order taken into consideration has Graham in the first round as well.

All I can say is soon. Friday and Saturday both sound very realistic. We're putting a lot of work into it.
