Boston-Danny Ainge confirmed that the team has agreed in principle to a sign-and-trade deal with New Orleans that would land point guard Dan Dickau in Boston with a three-year contract worth an average of $2.5 million per year.

Suns-Suns managing partner Robert Sarver, president Bryan Colangelo and All-Star Amar? Stoudemire will fly to Chicago today to meet with former Suns swingman Michael Finley in his hometown.

Suns-The Suns also are considering a sign-and-trade deal for Indiana swingman James Jones, but Joe Johnson's physical must be completed in Atlanta before the Suns' $6 million trade exception can be used.

Heat-The Heat, considered by many to be the front-runner in the Michael Finley sweepstakes, became the first team to meet with the free agent swingman Monday.

Cavaliers-If Michael Finley goes to Miami, it increases the chances the Cavaliers will be able to sign Heat free-agent point guard Damon Jones. If the Heat use their entire $5 million mid-level exception to land Finley, they can only offer Jones a deal starting at $3 million.

Detroit-Veteran big man Dale Davis, a free agent from Indiana, will join the Pistons' bench this fall, not shooting guard Michael Finley. Perhaps the Pistons grew tired of waiting for Finley.

Detroit-Center Darko Milicic, who is expected to play more this season, could be on a shorter leash with Dale Davis ready to play behind him.

Detroit-Discussions with Latrell Sprewell cooled in the last few days, and the Pistons pursued another option. The roster, which didn't have much wiggle room to begin with, appears to be complete with the addition of Dale Davis.

Suns-Jerry Colangelo will pick USA Basketball's next Olympic coaching staff in the next two months and is considering Suns coach Mike D'Antoni.

Clippers-Sam Cassell is scheduled to take a physical today for the Clippers, though he remains unsure if this is where he wants to be. "Once he gets out there, we'll be able to talk with the Clippers face-to-face to see if this is the place for him," Cassell's agent, Charles Tucker, said Monday. "We'll know a little bit more tomorrow."

Timberwolves-The Timberwolves made it official on Monday, announcing the re-signing of 6-10 forward Eddie Griffin. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Griffin is believed to have signed for $3.8 million over two years.

Sixers-Agent Leon Rose confirmed that Dajuan Wagner worked out Friday for the Sixers. Though he said the feedback was "very positive," he did not want to talk about the degree of the Sixers' interest.
