Discuss the weekend in this thread. Considering Tyrus is in the dunk contest, and we have Gordon in the shooting stars. Might as well make a thread to keep discussion all together.
Going to be interesting to see if a big man can actually do any spectacular dunks. I'll be watching in and out, just to make fun of the entire show tonight with a friend. Tomorrow will be just as boring as last night with no defense or care of the game so I'll skip it.
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I hope Tyrus embarrasses himself after those comments.</div> Actually if you read what he was doing after he made those comments, which were taken out of context, you wouldn't feel that way. He bought videos of all the slam dunk contests of the past, and has been studying moves/dunks he can do. He is going to surprise people.

Blur is right, Swish. The media took his comments out of context. He never actually meant any harm or insult by what he said.
Well Gordon lost the shooting stars for Chicago by jumping the gun and firing his shot too early. Lets hope Tyrus does well.
Tyrus said he was going to give the money to his old high school. Even if u had a job u loved would u work overtime 4 free?
Thomas was not impressive at the contest and neither was Howard. It seems over the last few decades it holds true that guys 6'9" and over shouldn't be allowed in the dunk contest. They just aren't as impressive and it is rare to see guys at that height doing anything great. The dunk contest as a whole really blew, I was more interested in the three point shoot out. The rest of the junk that took place earlier was crap as usual. Time to just get rid of these cheesy competitions. They only do them for sponsorship cash anyway. Like calling it the Sprite Dunk Contest is going to make me want to fill up on sugary soft drinks.
Sucks for the shooting competition, Gordon shot out of order. Tyrus should have done something different on his first dunk. His second dunk was pretty nice with his left hand. All the players went to easy in the skills competition they shouldn't put them in there if that's what their going to do.

That whole event sucked, period. The only good dunk in my honest opinion was Green's first. That was very unexpected.
Yeah, and ones that aren't constantly named after sponsors. I think naming all the stadiums after sponsors is enough. Seriously, Pizza Hut Park in Texas. WTF is that? Pepperoni Palace, stupid crap.
The Slam Dunk Contest is less about technical abilities than it is about showmanship, and while Thomas' dunks really didn't have either, his lack of showmanship was what ultimately killed him. People want to see Dwight Howard putting a sticker on the backboard, Gerald Green coming out with a Nate Robinson carboard cut-out, etc.; Thomas just failed to bring that kind of creative entertainment to the table.
