Growing up, there were a lot of role players (and sometimes stars) that I loved watching. Before the likes of Wade and Lebron came into the picture, there was an era where people were suffering from post-Jordan depression and many people claimed that the NBA had lost it's luster and jus weren't interested in it. That claim (regarding the luster of the league) was clearly false - at least in my opinion - and although the lockout season was a disappointment, every since the new millenium, the NBA has been growing steadily with an increasing fanbase. However, I feel that there are a lot of players that the (mostly younger) fans often forget about or get lost in the shuffle. Anyways, this is my personal list of the players that I miss watching from back in the day before Kobe was Mr.81 and Vince Carter was slowly starting to be considered the next Michael Jordan. Terrell Brandon Hershey Hawkins Detlef Schremph Voshon Leonard, Dan Marjele, Jamal Mashburn, Tim Hardaway - I used to love watching the Heat teams of the late 90's and early 00's. Tariq Abdul Wahad Mugsy Bogues (Earl Boykins before Earl was Earl) Dell Curry Mookie Blaylock And most of all....Allan Houston. I think that's all I can think of for now.
i miss watchin Sam Perkins and Jeff Hornacek. haha when i first started to watch basketball i remember those guys (just to name a few that havent already been mentioned)
Dennis Rodman...you could argue either way for him but really, he's one of the reasons i watched the NBA at first (along with Magic). John Starks (even in his final years) Allan Houston Jeff Hornacek (never got his due) Young Chris Webber (i was a huge fan in his warrior/wizard days) these guys aren't really forgotten but i miss watching them.

Sam Perkins reminds me of another Pacers center I used to LOVE watching. Rik Smits! Can't believe I forgot about him. I still remember the 98 Pacers team with Smiths, Mullin, etc. I agree with Jeff Hornacek, he played a vital role in those Finals reaching Jazz teams. Anyone remember his free throw routine? I don't remember exactly what it was, but it involved his cheeks, and I remember finding it funny watching him before free throws during the 97 Finals. Keep in mind I was like 7 or 8 though. I loved Rodman as a kid as well, same with Eddie Jones.
Karma was your thread inspired from watching Pros vs. Joes? Quite a few of the players you listed have been on that show.

The idea came because I was watching old tapes of the show NBA Action; I used to record it every week as a kid. I was watching a tape from sometime around 2000 and I saw Malik Sealy hit a game winning 3 pointer against the Pacers with the crowd going absolutely NUTS at the Target Center. Watching that tape brought back a lot of memories. Do you guys remember Bobby Phills and Malik Sealy? It was so strange that they both passed away during the same season and were both still relatively young. R.I.P to both of them.
I loved Ron Harper, he was by far my favorite non-superstar player when he was on the Bulls/Lakers. The guy was just incredible.

It starts with 3 contestants and the top two finishers in three events advance. Then they compete against the pros again in the Finals at each sport the player exceled at. The contestant with the best time in each event is declared the winner. For example. The episode with Rik Smits, the contestants had to get 3 point shots off, before Rik Smits blocked them. They had to play Tim Hardaway one on one. They play cornerback against Andre Rison and try to stop him from making a catch in various passing patterns. It's entertaining, and it's interesting to see some of the old faces. Some of those guys can still hold their own on the court. Clyde Drexler looked great in the episode he competed in. Still gliding.
Invalid Video Link I still remember watching that game at my cousin's house. I was nine-years-old at the time.
