Video of the lengthy press conference held today with Daryl Morey, Rick Adelman, and Luis Scola: http://www.click2houston.com/video/13700227/index.html <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> HOUSTON -- Five years after being drafted, Luis Scola has finally signed with an NBA team. Scola, who was chosen by San Antonio in the 2002 draft but never played for the Spurs, was introduced as the newest member of the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. The Spurs held his rights since 2002 while he continued to play for Tau Ceramica of the Euroleague. The Rockets obtained the draft rights to the Argentinian forward and acquired Jackie Butler in exchange for Vassilis Spanoulis in a trade last week with the Spurs. Houston also had to give up a second-round pick in the 2009 draft for Scola. "Luis fills a position of need," Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. "We thought he was the best guy out there and we worked really hard to get him here." </div> link
Luis Scola will be a valuable addition to our team. It seems that Adelman got his man after all. I just can't wait for the season to begin. I'm sure he'll compliment well with Yao and Tracy. Probably this 07-08 season will be the one we are all waiting for, with the Rockets finally advancing deep into the playoffs.
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but here are some videos (actually the only 2 good videos) that I could find on Scola on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ-tZz-LbR8&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV1phCgmIS4&NR=1 Doesn't look super athletic but definitely not a slow guy either. I'd say he's at least a notch above average athletically. Fundamentally sound, good polished moves, and finishes around the rim exceptionally well.
