I am watching Blazers highlights from last season and when I started looking for ones of Batum I found one that had "go-go gadget in the title and thought to myself that is the perfect nickname for Batum.

Its perfect to describe everything about Batum, from body type: tall, long and lanky as was Inspector Gadget, to his do everything skill set on the court: rebounds, assists, can score, plays defense, etc, just like Inspector Gadget could become anything he wanted.

    What does everyone think?

(I don't know how to post links but the video is not that hard to find.)

I like overrated defensively for a "nic" name. Not sure it will catch on though

I used to watch Inspector Gadget when I was a kid as well, along with Transformers, GI Joe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just to name a few.

With Batum though, we could call him Nicolas "Go-Go Gadget" Batum or Nicolas "Inspector Gadget" Batum and use the "go-go" moniker to describe how is contributing on the court.

    EXAMPLES:

    Rebounding: " Go-Go Gadget Rebounds"
Stealing the ball: " Go-Go Gadget Steals"
Dropping dimes: " Go-Go Gadget Assists"
Dunking the ball: " Go-Go Gadget Jam Session"

Either way you go works and I think it would really catch on.

    Terrible.

Besides, he has a nickname. Either "Nico" or "Batman".

I doubt it, but if you keep saying it long enough, someone might join you. Most Blazer fans think Nico is a good starting SF and focus on the positives.

Too bad there is no D in his name and you can do the old "taking the D out of his name".

See, your attempt at insult was a failure because Nic plays defense, unlike Leonar_. He just simply isn't as good at it as most Blazer fans think he is.

No attempt at an insult, you seem to comment on Nic's defense whenever you get a chance, I thought you would do the D thing if you had a chance. I see the difference as you explain it . . . you do seem to take any conversation about Nic and talk about how overrated you think his defense is so I thought the D would be the easiest thing to convey your feelings. But your nickname of overrated defensively Nic is more accurate to your thoughts. I get that now. Are you going to go with that or too long to type out each time?

BTW- I understand your position, but it's not just Blazer fans who think/know about his defense, often NBA announcers make comments about his defense . . . but I know, he is defensive is overrated in your mind.

Q: With the whole D thing . . . Lillard is one of the worst if not the worst defensive liability on the team . . . why no dogging him about his defense or calling him Lillar_?

Simple. No one thinks Lillard is a good defender, or really cares all that much that he isn't because he s one of the best PG's in the league.

We need defense from leonar_ and people always comment about Nic's great defense

    _ic Batum.

No D in his name because he's not a dick on defense.

Hate to say this, but we need defense from Lillard to get to the next level. We need defense from Lillard a lot more than we need defense from a third string big man. Just surprised you give Lillard a free pass when you seem to be all about defense and Lillard is a big liability in this area.

I think Lillard's defense will improve because he is so competitive, he knows that is the part of the game he needs to improve. I also think Leonard knows his defense needs to improve and that it will.. But I think we can both agree that luckily the Blazer's season does not rest on Loenard's defense.

So much frivolous analysis in this thread about defense. Let's get serious and return to the topic.

I used to watch Casper the Friendly Ghost. So I think he should be called Casper the Friendly Ghost.
