With Chip telling AA that he might not be here for all of Arik's years that this will infact hurt the Ducks recruiting as being noted by sites like Bleachers and Rivals? Do you think Chip is just waiting for the right NFL job and then he's gone? I sure hope not but recruits like Chip and he may be the biggest seller to being a Duck as of late!
Personally I didnt read too much into that comment. I took it more of a "I cant guarantee you I will be here all the years you are here, and neither can any coach, so make the decision based on what's right for you" type of comment. That said the NFL is rumored to intrigue him, so I wouldnt doubt that he will take the promotion when it feels right
Mostly because they get fired. At least if your coach moves on to a better job/NFL, that typically means that you as a player have played in some big games on the national stage.
Well no offense but I don't think Chip may survive well in the pros. The defenses he must face are usually much better than the Pac-12 rabble. In all fairness, I'd love to see him coach the Eagles or the Chargers, but I don't think he'd do stellar as he did in Oregon
I do. Across the board the offenses he would command would be much better then the ones at Oregon. Dude boils the game down to bad or worse choices for the D. He's got a pretty good gig going though... STOMP
I agree. The pros are too big and fast for a gimmick offense to make it. They also counter such gimmicks within a matter of games.
The Zone Read seemed to have decent success in Denver last year. And as stated before the talent level Chip would face would increase drastically, but so would the Talent level he would have to play with. It seems like you think Chip has always run this type of offense, or this is the only kind he can run. He stated himself before that the only reason they went to the spread at New Hampshire was they didnt have a full back.
if he got the right personnel, no reason to think he couldnt be successful in the pros....try running his scheme with rex grossman though, not so much
That's a good point and I thought about that. A quality coach is a quality coach. But to counter that I will say that most college coaches that go straight to a pro head coaching job do poorly. Although again, his attention to detail is a great quality for him to have. Alllllllllllll that said, were I to own a pro team I'd never get a head coach from the college ranks. I'd get a pro coordinator that has proven themselves.
haha for our sakes here at Oregon I hope NFL coaches think the same and Chip is here for a veerrrrrrry long time
