I went to an indy show on Friday that featured several old wrestlers. Among them were Brutus Beefcake, Demolition, Doink the Clown, and Rick Martel. Smith Hart was also supposed to make an appearance but I didn't see him if he was there.

This was a VERY old school show in a dry hockey arena. Probably 250-300 people in attendance (a good chunk of which was children and handicapped people, which is the norm). The ring started coming apart so during the prolonged intermission they had guys run out and fix it while several of the wrestlers looked on.

Martel was the first star out. For a guy in his fifties he is still in good shape and has huge pipes. He did the whole routine with the perfume bottle but kept his shirt on. He didn't have a real wrestling match--he was jumped in the beginning and came back for revenge later on in the show. Good energy levels from him.

The next one was Doink the Clown. Doink has been portrayed by several different wrestlers including The Brooklyn Brawler. I don't know who the guy was in the make-up this time around but I'm sure it wasn't Brawler. Slapstick bullshit as usual. Did the Rikishi ass-to-face bit.

Brutus Beefcake still looks good and came out to his original WWF theme music (they all did). Back in the day WWF entrance themes were like five seconds long and looped forever, which was exactly what Brutus' is like. He put on a full match and looked alright. He seemed to be the most recognized wrestler at the show. His hair is short now. Did the routine with the shears cutting an indy wrestler's hair after his match.

Demolition are old. Ax is over 60. They were old when they were in the WWF! I dunno what happened to them. It seemed like Legion of Doom stole their thunder. In any case they were less than lithe. Thankfully they were put up against Hollywood Hunks who are a couple of young guys that are pretty entertaining and can sell like crazy.

Smith Hart was supposed to be in attendance but I didn't catch a glimpse of him if he was around. He wasn't in the ring/on the mic at any point so I guess he didn't show up. A few things from the card changed before showtime which is to be expected with indy shows.

Sorry for the picture quality I only had my Blackberry on me.
