When I read this on ESPN I kept reading it over and over cause I couldn't believe it. Why the hell would Dallas trade Antawn Jamison for the 5th pick? Being that low in the draft means you can't get any of the most mentioned names, specifically Howard, Okafor, Livingston and Deng. I know he had a fairly big contract, but can't you get a lot more for him than the 5th pick? As ESPN said there's probably another deal around the corner and that's why this is happening, but this doesn't make sense so far. It also doesn't make much sense for Washington, because they now have Stackhouse and Jamison both in a jam at the SF spot.. [IMG]

Good trade for the rebuilding wiz imo. The most talented players in the draft are in the top 4. After that the draft takesa huge slide. Getting jamison to play with arenas and stackhouse is a great move for them. Who knows what brown is able to do. Then they have larry hughs as there sixth man thats a pretty quality team. They also have lonny baxtar who I think could be a solid big man.

Jerry Stackhouse and Christian Laettner will also be going to Dallas.

    So

    Stackhouse/Laettner & 5th pick for Jamison

My boy told me about this. I wasn't really surprised or anything, but yeah like the post says above. Who will the Mavs pick?

Or maybe the Mavs just made this trade so they could include the #5 pick in a trade for shaq.

I'm thinking Iguodala still, they need someone to replace Jamison, and I don't think Stackhouse is gonna do it..

Mavs will trade the 5th pick and either walker/finley/howard/nash... for Shaq!!!!! Or maybe they might go after T-Mac. Finley/Walker and 5th pick for T-Mac....

I think this is one of their plans to get shaq, they might trade the pick, if not then maybe a trade, with nowitzki or some other guys.

Jamison doesn't deserve being traded from now on. He's too good to be traded. I don't understand why teams would do this. I don't even think he will remain a Wizard untill retirement, so for the time being I hope he does something significant in Washington.

Reports say that IF Dallas can't entice LA to cough up O'neal they may just take a chance on Pavel Podkolzine with #5. This (and Chicago getting #7) throws a huge monkey wrench into every single mock draft out there.

jamison is awesome, walker needs to go back to the east...looks like they are the front runners for the shaq sweepstakes because of this trade.

If the Mavs can pull off a Nash, Walker, Howard, and the 7th pick deal for Shaq, they'd be an amazing force in the West. And their defense would be greatly improved. Forget taking Pavel, hes way too much of a project for the Mavs, who want a championship now. And getting Stackhouse in the Wizards deal could work out nicely for the Mavericks, as he would fill in at SF right away.

    Mavs:

    PG - Marquis Daniels
    SG - Michael Finley
    SF - Jerry Stackhouse
    PF - Dirk Nowitzki
    C - Shaquille O'Neal

    Lakers:

    PG - Steve Nash
    SG - Kobe Bryant
    SF - Josh Howard
    PF - Antoine Walker
    C - Slava Medvadenko

But, if Payton resigns, it'll leave Nash in an akward place. Thats when I hope the Lakers ship Nash to Toronto for a package deal including Donyell Marshall. [IMG]

Charlotte only made him an unrestricted FA, so he could still be brought back easily.

I've been pushing for a Laettner waiving, and a Stackhouse trade all along, didn't want to lose the 5th pick because I felt Iguodala could've been a good addition, but we'll re-unite the Warriors.

The reason Jamison does get traded is because of his poor defence.

For the Mavs this makes sense though, it gives them a better chance of getting the big man.

For the Wizards, they get a guarenteed veteran scorer in a young side that has had problems scoring.

Should work well for both teams
