"As we like in all our players, Jonnie can really shoot the ball and has exceptional talent," coach John Beilein said Wednesday. "Jonnie is young in age and is still developing physically."

The 6-foot-3 West averaged 18.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game at Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, Tenn. </div>

This is old news. He commited like half a year ago. Either way, I never really thought Jonnie was anything special. Don't get too excited. The kid will probably be a four year bench warmer. I know him real well from playing in the local city leagues with him the past few years. He's a great shooter, but he'll have a hard time getting his shot off. In the league he played in, all the defenders his position were like 5'5"-6'0", so he hasn't really faced many defenders with the kind of length that college defenders have. He also doesn't have the greatest handles in the world, and he's kind of a twig physically. Personally, I think 6'3" is a stretch for his height too. I'm between 6'4" and 6'5", and I dwarfed him.

Makes me wonder if I'd be playing college ball if I had a dad like Jerry West...

Well, apparently you don't but you could maybe walk on in Ann Arbor if your still going there.

I'll finally be there next fall! [IMG]

I'll try to walkon, but I'm not sure how good the competition is, so I don't know what my chances are. I've got a bunch of friends going on to or currently playing college ball, like my boy Dane Bradshaw. It would be amazing to compete against NCAA competition. My chances are probably very slim though. It's probably competitive as hell.

The Lakers should draft him and bring him and Luke Walton off the bench.
