The first 3 games are nationally televised. The Lakers have 6 road games in the first month and 7 home games. It's a tough opening scedule because 9 out of the 13 games will be against teams who made the playoffs last year.

I prefer a tough schedule in the beginning. That way, things can only get easier as we move along. The top teams won't be on form straight away and we may be able to steal a few victories.

Last season, I got to see a few LA games as we only get 2/3 games a week. I think I got to see them play about 6 or 7 times and I only got to see them win once! The win was against Chicago in the beginning of the season when they had a record of something like 0-10.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After bringing together Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson and Shaquille O'Neal once again on Christmas Day, the NBA schedule makers apparently decided to play Santa and give the Lakers a gift for April.
The league released its 2005-06 season schedule Monday, highlighted by a second consecutive holiday showdown between the Lakers and Miami Heat. The teams met last Christmas in the NBA's most watched regular-season game in nearly seven years.

More remarkable to the Lakers was a closing stretch that will have them playing their final five games at Staples Center. The last time the Lakers ended a season with five consecutive home games came in March 1974.

And if the Lakers are fighting for one of the Western Conference's final playoff spots in April, as some expect, their chances could greatly improve with a schedule that has them playing 10 of their last 13 games at home.

The Lakers will start their season Nov. 2 at Denver and play their home opener the next night against Phoenix. They finish April 19 against New Orleans, after playing the Clippers, Golden State, Portland and Phoenix, all at home, in the previous 10 days.

No other NBA team will play more than its final two games at home. New Orleans will play its last three games on the road.

The Lakers also will play a Thanksgiving night game at home against Seattle on Nov. 24. It will be broadcast on TNT, one of the 24 nationally televised games the Lakers will play this season, the maximum for one team allowed by league rules.

The combination of Jackson's return as Lakers coach and ABC's ratings from last year's Christmas game all but ensured Bryant and O'Neal would meet in another holiday showdown. The Heat play the Lakers at Staples Center on Jan. 16. </div>

This is definatly good as how the season comes to a close is very important. The last 15 games will make or break our season and thats what happened last season, we went on a poor stretch and it ruined the season. All the teams close to the playoff's will be hustling hard for victories and its great that we have the home court advantage in the last few games.
