Casey Holdahl ā@CHold I can now report that LaMarcus @aldridge_12 has signed with Jordan. Was previously with Nike. [TWEET]523928261298905088[/TWEET]
There is a thread related to this goibg on right now. Endorsement deals don't determine star status. LA is no more of a superstar than he was yesterday. He will get there when he wins a championship.
Do they even exist any more? Didn't Karl Malone wear those? What about British Knights - are they still around?
Aldridge's Nike shoe deal expired in September and he mentioned this summer that he planned to re-sign with Nike basketball when that deal was up, but he also mentioned his affinity for Jordan Brand shoes in the same breath."I've been with them over a decade. I don't see that changing," Aldridge said recently, while relaxing on a couch after the photo shoot in Buck Studio at 3150 N.W. 31st Ave. "I've just been a Nike kind of guy. When I graduated from high school, Air Force Ones were like the most popular shoe. So when you go with Nike you can get Air Force Ones by the boatload. I love Jordans."Aldridge switching things up with a move to Jordan Brand is just he latest in slew of sneaker news for Portland Trail Blazers players. Damian Lillard unveiled his first signature model shoe this week, which will likely be released by adidas some time in early 2015. Jordan Brand continues to upgrade their roster of NBA players with the signing of Aldridge, and now boasts a team that includes the likes of Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin and the recently signed rookie Jabari Parker of the Milwaukee Bucks among other athletes from across the sports world. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i...dridge_reportedly_signs_w.html#incart_m-rpt-1
Yeah he has been a Nike guy all along but i still wonder why Nike does not develop it's connection to the Blazers a bit more? I think it would have been in their interest to sign Dame.
Nike did make Dame an offer. Adidas just offered a hell of a lot more. Dame's deal with Adidas is worth "well over $100 million."
After he brings the Blazers multiple championships that will be considered a steal. Yeah, I am a Homer....
You have to have a big personality if you want to be a superstar as a big man, LA is a great guy but he isn't a marketable player like Dame is.
I think it's like comparing Tim Duncan to Shaq..LA is much more like Duncan. Both quiet guys, understated but still both superstars
