...interesting "Staff ace Yu Darvish, Adrian Beltre, Shin-Soo Choo and Elvis Andrus of the Texas Rangers cleared waivers on Monday" http://espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/story...oo-elvis-andrus-texas-rangers-cleared-waivers
...^^^can't argue that point, hammer. I've had many people claim that Cashman needs to be held "accountable" for the failures of the team. But IMO, "accountability" does not stop at the GM. I mean shouldn't the owners ultimately be held just as accountable, if not more so, for the GM's failures?
I couldn't agree more. The Kids, don't know a baseball game from a soccer game, they think MLB is a pinball machine, or a X-Box game, IMO.
Hammer, not convinced steins need to be replaced. I think they are good owners in that they don't interfere much and let the gm run the show. Only problem is cashman is clueless. If they get rid of him and get the right gm in there they seem like the type of owners that will spend the money they need to spend and get out of the way. Need to hire as GM the St.Louis, tampa Bay or texas farm directors and have the minors start producing players again. Would like to see an influx of good youth like the bernies, jeters, posadas and pettites that were produced when someone who knew what they were doing like gene michaels was there.
They haven't displayed any passion... they haven't played fair with Cashman (hasn't been great, but...) in that they told him he couldn't spend, he couldn't spend, he couldn't spend, and then spend after anyone good was taken... again, Cashman hasn't done anything with many chances, but the Brother's Grimm haven't done anything to really help him or the team...
...^^^not to mention that the Steins have also circumvented his authority and made deals/decisions that Cash did not have any hand in.
...yup, not saying he's the best GM but it's kinda hard to "play the game" if you don't know the rules.
Or the rules change from previous agreement. That said, he has had plenty of time to know his ownership group, and should have a plan that accounts for knee jerk FO.
...I don't think he returns after this season...but even if the Steins replace him with someone better, it won't matter if they don't let him do the job he was hired to do. ...hell, Cash may actually be hoping they don't retain him...I'm sure he can get a job elsewhere.
