As the Football Bowl Subdivision fights over its last Bowl Championship Series and how to run a four-team playoff in 2015, the Football Championship Subdivision continues to expand its postseason. The NCAA selection committee will now award 11 automatic bids to conference champions and 13 at-large bids, up from 10 at-large bids last year. The Pioneer League, a 12-team non-scholarship conference, now gets an automatic bid in the playoffs for its regular-season champion. The selection committee will now consider teams with six Division I wins, instead of the normal seven, and use a new rating system to help choose the best 24 teams in the country. The committee will use an RPI-type rating system called the Simple Rating System, which measures strength of schedule, as an additional subjective tool to pick the field. The FCS is also sporting a new logo and pushing new terminology in a rebranding effort. The NCAA’s new logo for the FCS doesn’t reference Championship Subdivision, has “Division I” on it, and has a new tagline: “Every down. Every day.” http://espn.go.com/college-football...subdivision-set-expand-playoffs-24-teams-2013
