But, is this where we pull the Boston Celtic deals and start acquiring assets. The product on the field is less than major league quality. If this was any other corporation in America, changes would be made. Is it time to Trade Cano, Trade Gardner, trade the Bat boy, who has more value than Wells. Not for the sake of making trades, but an actual plan for 2015. We have 4 HRs from 3B's. Not since Jerry Kinney, Bring back Nettles, Pagliarulo, Bro, Hayes, hell COCO LABOY, but for god sakes do something
I agree they have to mold a future here. Easier said than done with some of these big money deals with four years remaining on them. I don't agree with trading Cano because you're never going to get proper value. You can roll the dice but what if the prospects crap out? Not to mention the guy is going to be a free agent. Who's going to give up a ton to the Yankees when an offer can be made after the season without giving up anything?
^^^ I agree...I mean why trade away your 2 best players?...and for what, a handful of hopefuls? ...no thank you. We know what we have in Cano and Gardner and I'd much rather them as the established players we know them to be instead of players that you hope will someday turn into something.
You can't trade Cano, Dispite the fact that the guy doesn't know the meaning of the word HUSTLE, he's still one of the few bright spots on this team. And unfortunately A-Rod, CC & Teixeira (70M combined) aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
So then I can agree with keeping Cano and Gardner, but with that comes another long term contract. But then there should never be another 10 year deal in Yankeeland unless the player for example is a TRout or Machado type who will be like 32-34 years old on his last year. I would really like to see if the Phillies would do a salary dump for their big left handed hitting firstbaseman. If we could put Ryan Howard in the middle as DH with Tex at first next year, they alone could average 1.5 runs a game.
With guys like A-Rod & Jeter needing time there, I just don't see the Yankees picking up a full time DH.
They need a big gun in the outfield. Ichiro and Gardner with a guy like Wells who can't hit and when he does just hits singles doesn't cut it. If Granderson walks in free agency which he's likely to do what do you do about getting some outfield power? I don't care how much of Vernon's contract is being picked up. The guy is an absolute disgrace at the plate.
...that's the very reason why I think Wells could be traded shortly...the Yanx only have to pay $2.8 of his contract next year and the Angels have to eat the rest.
I know the salary will be tempting for teams but after displaying what little he's doing for the Yankkes this year I can't see any teams giving him a shot. Unless he gets hot. Which I'm hoping he can do in the next 10 days so the team can move him at the trade dead line.
...he'll have more value to another team than he does for the Yanx...with Granderson coming back there's absolutely no reason to keep him.
the rate of success this season with DL players returning has been 0%. Everyone of the big names have came back and went right back on, so I am not real hopeful that Grandy will be different, sadly.
I wish I could agree with you 59 but Wells has had like 3 extra base hits in the last two months and I don't think he has homered since May. It seems like all he does is strike out or an occasional single. I just can't see another team giving up anything for him. Granderson probably won't be back until the beginning of August as it is.
It's true. Wells hasn't homered since May 15th and has a few doubles in the last two months. The guy simply cannot hit. Wells and Hafner have offered little to nothing for a long stretch now.
Id love for the yanks to dump Wells, but what team in the universe actually wants him? He's been toast for years.
The Angels were thrilled the Yankees would take him knowing no other team would. Now there isn't a team out there that would take him and then who replaces him. Melky Mesa? He is a strikeout machine. Then who replaces Hafner who should have retired last season. He tore the cover off the ball in April now we are lucky if he hits it to the warning track. This team is not the Yankees and we are fooling ourselves if we think there is a chance in hell that they will even sniff the playoffs. Hal and company should be embarrassed by the team they are fielding out there. They did such a poor ass job this spring and we all knew it then but they were the only ones who seemed to think that they did a good job. Shame on them. Sorry just having a bad day.
When you're watching a game & circumstances leave you with Travis Hafner as the only player left on your bench. Well this organization should be ashamed of themselves.
Amazingly this team sits three games out of a wildcard spot. If those guys had contributed just a little bit instead of not at all some more games would've been won.
