Great find tb#1. My general impression after watching this is that Pau's going to be better than what we had in Boozer but not what we'll ideally need. He still looks like he can play his game, albeit less effectively than when he was in his prime....but it's still there. Being tall really does make life easier. On defense he looks like he has a lot of the same issues as Boozer, but they're not as bad because of his length. For similar reasons he'll be more able to close out games than Boozer. I don't see him always being taken out in the 4th, although it'll certainly some of the time. His instincts for finding the open man and moving the ball are really fantastic.....he'll be interchangeable with Noah in the high post. Maybe even more dangerous since he has an outside game. But he doesn't look like a guy that can get to the rim very much. He went to the line 4 times per game last year. I'm guessing he'll be able to get to the basket using offensive flow but you won't be able to lean on him for it during critical moments.
Look at Pau's USG% for the Lakers last year. He's probably still that good that a lot of plays end with him shooting/scoring.
Ya. Pau's length alone will bother people. His passing is still there! Noah and Gasol are going to wreak havoc on the court with their passing skills, and both hit the offensive boards very well. Pau will be better than Boozer because of his length, passing, and his 3 pt threat. Pau can still run the court. Derrick will love that. I watched the first game, have yet to see the second one.
Watched the first half of Brazil-Spain. Pau is automatic around the basket. Blocked Splitter, and just blocked Nene. Spain leads 43-29. About two minutes left in the half.
