He's been in prison for 30 years, Israel is your friend, there have been way worse crimes made, everyone is spying on everyone - that's just how it goes, time to forgive and forget.
Let him rot. He should have received the death penalty. In contrast, there is considerable ongoing resistance to any form of clemency from numerous officials familiar with the case, including former CIA director George Tenet, multiple former U.S. Secretaries of Defense, a bipartisan group of U.S. congressional leaders, and members of the American intelligence community. Opponents maintain that the damage to American national security as a result of Pollard's activities was far more severe and enduring than publicly acknowledged. Intelligence officials contend that at least some of the information purchased from Pollard ended up in the Soviet Union. His motives, they argue, were monetary, not idealistic or patriotic. He stole classified documents related to China that his wife used to advance her personal business interests. He admitted shopping his services to countries other than Israel. There is evidence that he sold classified information to South Africa, and attempted to do so with Pakistan. He also attempted to broker arms deals with South Africa, Argentina, Taiwan, Pakistan, and Iran.
I understand your anger but you know I love you and you know this is no way to treat a friend. In Israel you don't sit 30 years for murder. It's time to put this behind us.
Perhaps people in Israel never truly understood how much this hurt your feelings. If I could I would apologize in behalf of my country. The US is without a doubt Israel's best friend and such things should happen between enemies if at all. I'm sorry.
Let him go, I say. He has suffered enough. Compared to the low life dishonest actions taken by our government towards our friends, this guy is a small potatoes. For those that would like to read, here is the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Pollard oh, and yeah, Wook "wiki lol...." so here is an Israeli Paper http://www.timesofisrael.com/group-says-board-denies-jonathan-pollard-parole-request/
Israel and its American friends should fund a movement to decrease all prison sentences. They were greatly increased across the board in the ultra-conservative Reagan era. Other countries think the U.S. is a prison nation because of its outlandish sentences, the worst in the world. Compared to most countries, the U.S. loves to overspend and increase its debt. Get Israel to work for the good of all Americans, not just one man. Bring U.S. prison sentences back to what they were before the Republican 1980s.
